1. This man is the only real rockstar in the band.
he is a member of a rockband, has done lots of drugs, was admiral of the red, has fucked a supermodel and managed to stay alive.
Whant more could one dream of?

no offense, but you are mistaken here...his tecnique is quite simple...to play u2 stuff is very easy.

Yes it's easy to play, but the hard part: trying to get the right sound (effects and that unique chime sound). THAT is not easy, and I know because I play guitar.

But this thread is about Adam, not Edge

Surely, the man who invented the thumping basslines of songs such as I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Mysterious Ways, Zoo Station, Discotheque, Elevation, A Man and a Woman, etc etc deserves more than that.

So let's hear it. Praise for the humbly quiet, bassist and only non-smoking/non-christian member of the band. Who's got some?

thanks so much for coming up with this topic!!! our favorite bass player must receive his credits!!!

Love the stance and posture when playing live. He's always got a big infectious smile and just so cool the way he handles him smoothly live.

As for the music, what can I say? Thumping, rythmic, crass, simple, melodic, gentle... the man is truly in a league on his own. Plus the stories behind his behaviour. Screening Bono during an assassination attempt. Lying to the band about being able to play bass. Buying a bass thinking it was a 4 string guitar. Plus he is the only member of the band, maybe in rock history, who's early days' hairstyle rivals and competes with Bono's for worst hair do ever.

    Props, man. Props

i totally agree with you mate!! he is somehow naif, but also seems to be the one who'll give you great advices!
i love the way he performs...all the bass lines.... If You Wear That Velvet Dress just makes me speechless! and he always have a smile on his face! he truly loves what he's doing!
and the timbre of his voice is quite unique!!! i love it on Your Blue Room!!!

so.....thumbs up for our marvellous bass player (for me, the best one on earth!! )
  6. Hey bigger reception for this topic than I expected! I'm glad the least-speaking and least-spoken-of member of U2 is as appreciated with everyone else as he is with me

It's like I've been saying for ages:
    Larry's the heartbeat
    And Adam's the pulse
    Edge is the soul
    And Bono's the arse!

k...i haven't been saying that for ages, i just made that up
  7. I must have one of Adam's old fenders. They are great. I'm hoping to get pulled up on stage one day and play one. That would be awesome
  8. Actuaay in the streets video he smokes. Don't know if he still does but I had to point it out. Seriosly though, all these kids nowdays think Pete Wentz is so cool but Adam use to spin around the stage back in the day way before him. Fallout Boy can kiss U2s ass.

Larrys the boring but cool headed member.
    Adams the true rocker.
    The Edge is the smartass.
    And Bono is the do-gooder.

Thats the way I see it.

I don't think a musician must try to waste his life to be "a real rockstar". In that case, being "a real rockstar" is not a thing to go proud of.
I'm sure U2, during 30 years of great music, has tried to underline several times that what is really important in the life is love. I'm sorry, but I can't see anything related with love in taking drugs, fucking a supermodel and getting very close to death.
This is why I don't admire Adam for the man he was going to become, but I do for the man he eventually decided to be.

I agree. I'm surprised that he's become the great guy that he is. I think 10 years ago
nobody would have guessed that he would've become the person he is today.

he just lived the life for a few years. He had the world at his feet. Most people would have 'had a slice of the pizza' (Bono quote). Thats Rock n Roll
