1. I like the song October.
  2. My least favorite. (2nd last only to Passengers).
  3. It's a great album and a shame more people haven't realised it. Far better than ATYCLB and HTDAAB.

Best songs: Gloria, I Fall Down, I Threw A Brick, Rejoice, Tomorrow, October, With A Shout, Stranger In A Strange Land, Scarlet and Is That All.

  4. Yea lol, everything else must be forgettable as I don't remember any of the other tracks (aside from Gloria, which is so so).

I doubt that very much, despite the low standards of ATYCLB and HTDAAB.
At least they produced some hit songs.

October lies in the no man's land between U2's mainstream albums (like those two) and their more artistic ones (JT, Zooropa, Pop etc).

It's not pop and has no great artistic merit either.

Just because an album produces no hit singles, doesn't mean it's not any good.

I couldn't honestly give a flying fuck about being pop (popular) and having artistic merit. Does everything by U2 need to be artistic? They're a rock band - what (true) rock bands are honestly making artistic rock that would be mainstream?

Artistic merit died in the 90s. Rock and roll doesn't stop the traffic anymore.

There is no way October comes close to the two aforementioned works. It just doesn't. There are really no memorable songs on it for me, and I don't like that it was regarded so high on the Christian chart.

In mainstream and critical, it's about as far as you can get from the other well-known albums.

In being an interesting and unusual album, it's about as close as you can get from U2.

    Amen.

Which makes it all the better. It paints an imperfect picture of an imperfect band in its early stages. Great album.
  9. I really love October, i've had urges to listen to it as of lately and it comes across as really powerful to me, don't know why, I just love it.

Yeah agreed, I think its because Bono sounds like he means everything he sings here. They are young, energetic and enthusiastic. I think its a brave album for a 2nd album, they brough religion in where it may have not been popular, so full credit to them.

Ans I really like it, Gloria, Rejoice, Tommorow, Fire, October, With a Shout, Stranger in a Strange Land all do it for me
  11. I totally agree! When I first heard the album it sounded a bit boring to me, but now (after lots of listenings) I can’t imagine U2 without that album.

I don’t care if it’s a catholic album, I’m not catholic myself, I just like the songs. Especially these one: Gloria, I Fall Down, I Threw a Brick Through a Window, Rejoice, Fire, Tomorrow and October (ok just the first 7 songs on the album )
