1. Anyone here familiar with Spotify? For those who don't know this 'new' hype (it's already around for a few good months but was launched here in Holland this week) here's some info:

Also available is a "Day Pass", which gives limited Premium features for 24 hours.[8] Music can be browsed by artist, album, record label or playlist as well as by direct searches, and a link allows the listener to purchase selected material via partner retailers.[9] Launched in October 2008, Spotify has approximately seven million users as of May 19th, 2010; about 250,000 of these are paying members

The temptation for a single one month Premium account was too big so I bought one. Installed the app on my mobile and really..it is quite stunning to have access to loads of music, almost all music through 3G or wifi. All albums of U2 are there and at home, with wifi, the streaming is flawless and fast. 3G has some lag though.

With a simple cable, I can use my stereo-set as boxes for my phone. So basically, I have a sort of Jukebox here with all music on it. Love it.
  2. Been tempted by a premium account so that I can use the android app. Might still do so. Handy when not at home and if you want to listen to something without having to rip it from cd
  3. Not a fan of streaming music, in fact I'm not a fan of digital music at all - I use FLACs and MP3s just because they're handy on the computer and to listen on the phone etc, but.... Whatever happened to our good old CDs.

Agree, the app itself is quite good too. Can't be arsed to pay 10 euros every single month though.

I think it's the future. To have a single database with access to all music. And the quality is good. As paid member, the music is streamed in 320 kbps.
  6. Ill wait for a new phone though. The speaker on my current phone is a shambles and I often forget my earphones

Agree with you here, Sergio. I only use my iPod because its convenient; there's something about having a hard copy of the music I'm listening to; something tangible that I can say, "this is more than just music. these are more than just songs. this entire record is a complete, packaged, piece of art" that you don't get with digital music. Looking at an album cover while you listen to a song will never beat holding an album in my hand.

  8. Desire right? It's a shambles indeed. Aiming for a Desire too but the Nokia 5800 has superb music abilities and since it replaced my Zen as main music gadget..Still don't know what to do.

    Technology topic related though now..
  9. I dislike spotify. I like buying my music. As Sergio and Matt said, I like having a hard copy aswell. You get alot of stuff for free on spotify which is a joke. You actually should get a limit to how much music you listen to in a day. I don't really see the point in getting a premium account either, unless you want to listen to it on your phone or iPod. You may as well just stick your own music on your iPod because you can choose anything you want to put on it. Spotify doesn't have everything which means your better off with the iPod option.
  10. Strips artists of a fair amount of royalties as well; not that I'm terribly concerned with most of these guys' in the industry's paychecks, but hey- as long as we're commentating.

You get free streaming, not free music. I agree a hard copy cd won't be beaten by it. I still prefer that too for myself. But it takes time to rip a cd to your iPod or whatever your device is. The quality is very good too.

About the limit, Spotify open is limited to 20 hours per month.
  12. (That's nice, a Spotify topic)

I just bought Premium. I like Spotify for discovering new artists, but if I find someone I like, I'll buy CDs and DVDs with them.
