1. a bigger, longer, fatter, stinking-er, boring-er, greatesthits-er farewell tour

I just hope and pray, that this doesnt happen to U2.They need to "go back to basic's" yet once again,as they did for the Elevation Tour in 2001 and even Vertigo 2005.U2 need to release a great album, and play a solid CONCERT,that includes relevant new music.360 was,to say the least, over the top,ala a "Rolling Stones type gig." Huge Las Vegas stage, alot of old hits, and some bad (not all) new music. It is,of course, about the music, not some big stage that takes away from the focus, which, yes, is the MUSIC.As I have said in the past,Bruce Sprinsteen would never do a show like 360.Why would he ?

By the way,I thought Larry Mullen said, after the disatrous embarrassment that was the PoP tour, that he would "never do a tour like that agian" ?

The Stones HAVE to have distractions on stage, since they havent released a great album since 1974,or anything of relevance since 1981's Tattoo You.A Stones gig is an "event'.The music is secondary.

I think Damon Albarn put it best, when asked about Blur recording a full on album."Its on my mind.I dont know how I feel. There's a part of me that would love to bring Blur into our 40's.But does it belong in that world ? Do any of us really need that ? Is Blur even a band anymore ? Or are they just individuals, who get together, when schedules allow,to play old hits and lay down half formed ideas. Is that a band ?"

That last part, actually made me think of Pearl Jam Matt.
  2. Exactly. The only reason I would attend a Stones concert is to hear hits that are literally four to five DECADES old.

I suppose I am doing this with the Smashing Pumpkins in October (although the hits are only 15 or so years old) and maybe even did it with PJ last year.
  3. The likeliness that the Stones play Glastonbury is high. And if another Stones play - The Stone Roses - then I'm definitely not going to Glastonbury. Overrated headlining acts is too much for me.

But saying that, I'd see The Rolling Stone if the tickets were around £40 and if they were playing nearby. That's the maximum I'd go and I'd only go for tracks such as 'Sympathy for the Devil' and 'Paint It Black'. They have their songs, just not many of them.

    Agree from A to Z.
  5. There's a real blues-y track on Bigger Bang (Back Of My Hand?) which was probably the last song I liked since 'Doom And Gloom'. Great track!!!

If the next album has tracks like this one, not too much overproduction, gloss, Mick Jagger pop on it - it'll be a great record.
  6. what next album? .. this one? ... out on nov 12

nothing new there including the couple of new songs "Gloom and doom" and "One last shot" ...
  7. Thank you.
  8. No I mean a new album, if there's ever going to be one. 2005 was their last album.

These two new songs are from a new compilation of 50 years and an overview of the singles from 1962 onwards.
