Better get Disc 2 of the Best of 1980-1990...it contains most of them!
  2. I have it. Along with all the 45's.

U2 45's in the 80's... you always knew you'd end up with a free album once all the singles were released and you had 2 b-sides per...

Now if someone around here would get around to listing "A Room At The Heartbreak Hotel" in the "songs" section on this site.

(I've been griping about this for years).

Gulp. But everything else is great around here....please don't ban me for making a negative comment...please don't ban me for making a negative comment...please don't ban me for making a negative comment...please don't ban me for making a negative comment...

For the record (and for the umpteenth time from me), Trip Through Your Wires is hands down the worst song on the album.

I agree with Trip being the worst, but I still rate it as a really good song in an album full of exceptional songs. I'd also say that although the JT b sides are strong I don't think there's a good case for any of them to have made it onto the album, I couldn't picture the JT with anything other than the 11 tracks that are on it. Red Hill Mining Town is possibly the best non single on the album in fact I'd have no problem rating it 3rd best on the whole album behind only steets and WOWY.

a-ha! but if you're willing to change the song sequence on the album, how do you know one of the b-sides wouldn't be a better fit?

We'll you've picked up on something I was thinking about when I was writing the last post. I remember in a post saying to Matt that I was happy enough listening to the JT on shuffle and I am but the more I think about it my ears are accustomed to hearing it in the albums order (which is the way I do listen to it more often than not) so maybe I'm starting to back track a bit. I'm still not sure it's as important live right enough but I do get the point being made. Anyway I still think the b sides were correctly chosen as such and couldn't displace the 11 on the album.

I also think not all of the B-sides from 1987-1988 are gold, but I do believe 1 or 2 are better than RHMT. (record scratching sound)
