1. I get what you mean about the ZooTV performances. I really think it's the drums. Maybe Larry used different drums at the time or the recordings were mixed differently, but it's definitely the drums.
  2. This version made me a huge U2 fan, no question. I remember watching it when first getting the Boston DVD nearly 15 years ago and I couldn't stop watching The Fly. I don't mind the fact that Bono doesn't play guitar. In fact, I actually think it is better. His energy during The Fly is incredible.
  3. To be honoust this version of the fly is so good it pretty arouses me.

I know we tend to give U2 a lot of flack for their lackluster concert films, but I think the Boston DVD is a very good showcase of U2 performing. The Bad/Streets sequence is always my go-to when I want to show people what it's like to see U2 perform.

  5. My favorite version of my favorite song. Just picked this up this weekend. Still sealed.

To me, the last great DVD they released was Slane. What's great about Boston is that it feels raw - it has mistakes, it has performances that are considered as average, but I think that is what makes it great: the fact that they kept in certain performances. It also has loads of great performances: Gone, Elevation, The Fly, New York, that Bad/Streets combo.

If only Bono's voice wasn't shot during Bad most of the tour, y'know...

I'd argue STRONGLY that the AIWIY/Streets segue from Slane is 100000X better.

In fact, that goes for the entire show.
  9. This is one occasion where I'd have to disagree with you and probably most u2 fans. I suppose I'm always more into my setlists than anything else and the Boston one blows slane out the water for me. That segue with bad/ 40 snippet/ Streets is my favourite they've done for Streets, apart from maybe auld Lang syne for the new year gig. The Boston show happens to feature some of my favourite songs per album , New York, stay, gone, bad all probably number 1 or 2 from there albums, then of course the fly which I preferred as a change from one even though it was a great version of one at slane.

Agree 100%...love the audio from this dvd....too bad Boston wasn't featured with more songs , as they played 4 nights in Boston....always seemed odd to me that One (and Pride) was clipped at the end as it was performed all 4 nights.....
  11. The Boston version is absolutely incredible. Wish they had done it on I&E.
