1. I gotta admit that I couldn't care less why they are touring, why the new album is delayed, whether the remix of RHMT is good or bad...

I'm just over the moon that I'm seeing them in less than two months!

Well said man, this is how I feel right now. G Hopefully we see the band happy and healthy on stage in a few weeks until the end of this tour.
And I can not wait for the new album too. Every time they keep renewing in any way, it makes my heart jump a little. Cause I love this band so much.

+1, well just over 2 months for me but really excited.

As a result there's often too much happening. This is a song that doesn't quite fit B-man's more-recently acquired quaint and melodic manner of singing either.

But I'm also somewhat biased in my bemusement of the whole repackaging thing. Thought SoI was a prefectly fine album that shows they can remain relevent, if not as good as they used to be. Re-doing an album because the current political climate somewhat resembles the inspiration of one or two of the songs is just..lame.

I'm totally with you on SOI. I need rerank my albums because I think it will rank quite up there.

We'll see how the tour goes but I don't really care what thy do. They've earned it at this point and a 30th anniversary is kind of a big deal.
  5. I have to say, I really like the 2017 version and prefer it to the original. I prefer the 'updated' instrumentation (mostly the rhythm section), horns, Edge's backing and I like Bono's (smoother?) vocal in the verses.

It was interesting to hear Bono on Radio 2 discuss how in the 80s he had to shout in order to hit the notes, the sheer strain of this being the reason why they never played it live. It's fascinating to hear him say he can actually sing it 'properly' now. They've obviously used 80s vocal takes for most of the choruses but it's great to hear him hit those notes in the final section, seriously impressive for a 57 year old.

I still think they'll tune down a half step (perhaps a full step) for the tour as I can't see him maintaining the original key for more than a few gigs but hey, I'm just glad we're getting the song live

Well said. I'm glad I'm seeing them for the first time! It's been a long wait.
  7. the first show is always fantastic...but then it leaves you with regret that you missed prior shows
  8. Perhaps discussed but did they change the ending of the song back to the original lyrics?
  9. Did anyone that bought this for Record Store Day get a Everything From Desert Springs booklet with it?
  10. I didn't get the booklet with my copy & I'm after the booklet for my collection.
  11. I really like the outro . The horns are too much though...
  12. My record store still had 3 copies
    So I bought one
