The purist in me says they should open with 2 from Boy, 2 from October, 2 from War, 2 from UF, then complete JT and end with Party Girl and 40!

    (Larry, are you listening!!!)
I like what your saying but let's leave THREE in from UF.
  2. That'll work! And you can rotate in Luminous Times, Walk to the Water, Love Comes Tumbling and The Three Sunrises!

I picked up a GA for Dallas just now. Still wish I was just going to one U2 show though, with the circumstances.
That is so sad, I'm sorry for you.
  4. I woke up to the news about 2 hours ago. I should be back asleep again.

    I'm not sleeping.

  5. I still love the song but Bono can't sing it well anymore.

Was at the Seattle and Santa Clara shows and boy does the new song stink as a closer...I don't know why they didn't rescue the show with I Will Follow again...When they played "Little Things" it was the first time in the entire show people around me sat down...and to then end it on that note, and walk out...you could really sense a confusion....a sort of "after ALL the amazing things we just saw...they decide to end like THIS?" People just sort of got up from their seats and shuffled out. I imagine the band can read a crowd...and if so...they should have changed the encore after the first show.
  7. The idea of closing a nostalgic tour with a song pointing to their future sounds good in theory, but is really awful in practice. Again, you can just feel it in the audience. I imagine others who attended any shows may attest.

Hard to tell with U2. It seemed like they adjusted in Seattle. But they've been known to drop things quickly, and then be bullish on others... If they begin to notice people in their seats night after night, I imagine they'll react... but then again, who knows.
  9. Yeah I'm not sure what they're thinking here. They're usually so good at running order for shows too.

It either needs a short feel good rocker, OoC, IWF, heck even Vertigo as done to death as it has been, OR something with more of a prolonged and uplifting ending. "40", MoS, or AIWIY, all of these work well as closers.

Little Things as fantastic a song as it is, builds to that airborne crescendo and then just kind of ends almost abruptly and leaves things hanging, it needs something with a bit of a sing-a-long-a-outro to bring it all back down and leave people feeling good.

Maybe it will come in Pasadena. I think they may have changed things up last night if it weren't for the fact they'd already gone an hour over curfew, though by arrangement I believe. Any further and they would have been in hot water.

  10. i find your lack of faith disturbing

But here's the thing: perhaps they don't want to leave the audience all too comfortable. Remember , SOE was thought to be too optimistic in times of Trump. And although the JT album is not a pessimistic record, it's not exactly merrily tunes either. Still early days however. Let's see if the setlist remains this static.

Leaving them uncomfortable is one thing, leaving them asleep is completely different.
