1. Just broke out my Chicago DVD to watch through the bonus disc. Forgot that Willie had put together this miniature film all shot on infrared-style camera (that really looks like shit, by the way).

Anyway, the performances definitely aren't the Chicago ones, and the audio is pretty much pro-quality. I was just curious if anyone knew what shows in particular the performances drew from?

I guess the only way to find out would be to watch and see if you can spot any specific lyric change or snippet, and cross reference it with a bootleg? Maddening task.

Go back and watch them! I miss this era of U2.

I know they taped the Vancouver shows too. Could those be?
  3. Love and Peace or Else - Aside from a shaky Bono to start, I have no idea how we could ever figure out where this was from. Sounds as typical as it ever did, nothing special about it at all.

An Cat Dubh / Into the Heart - Jesus fuck me, when will they bring this back? Into the Heart is a fucking gorgeous song. Honestly one of their best. Fuck! Uh...anyway...nothing extraordinary about this either aside from it being mesmerizing. Bono does not pull anyone up on stage, if that narrows down the bootleg?

Cry / Electric Co - It does have The Cry, so that narrows it only slightly...I'm guessing based on the selection that this was entirely recorded on the first leg. BIG "2, 3, 4!" from Bono going back into the hook. Snippets coming up, and they are...Bullet With Butterfly Wings, and I Can See For Miles

On the first leg of the Vertigo Tour, that combo was played twice. Chicago 5/9, and Boston. Could just be that these were all shot on the Chicago stop and he just used footage from performances that didn't end up on the DVD.

Will keep going if I notice anything specific to narrow others down, but the above is my best guess right now.
  4. Running to Stand Still - Slight update here - they just showed the arena and it was 100% not the United Center, so I think these are actually from different shows across the first leg.

They record all their shows since a very long time ago so "having pro-quality audio" or "being proshot" aren't indicators anymore.
  6. Oh I know, I was just curious which shows those recordings belonged to since they were "available" pro-recorded songs I could rip and listen to alongside the rest of my official live collection.
  7. Taken from u2songs.com

Filmed by Willie Williams during The Vertigo Tour, Williams comments: “The films are composited from snippets of footage taken from about 40 different shows on the first N.American leg of the tour in ’05. (I only had four cameras which could shoot 20 – 30 seconds at a time, so would reposition them each day.)”

I think audio from 1 show and video from different shows?
  9. Probably makes the most sense for all the audio to come from one show. I'm going to download the Chicago boots today and do a comparative listen tonight!

Been awhile since I got to the bottom of a U2 mystery
  10. I love a good mystery.

Did we ever find that Bad?
  11. Ooh which mystery are you referring to, about Bad? I sense it's a touchy subject...?
  12. Mystery Bad

Seems unresolved (or resolved, depending on how you look at it ).
