This one was barley 2 years after I+e, covering much of the same ground.
side two of the album is a highlight for me... meanwhile far too many stadium folks tune out
  2. This is where the arena/stadium gets touchy for me. Half the stadium crowd is there to be seen and snap a selfie for social media, "look at me, I'm at U2!" ... the same people that make it even more difficult to get tickets for arena show!

Yes, absolutely! I'm in between Atlanta and Charlotte. My first show was in Atlanta, and I saw every tour from POPMART to 360 there. I love being able to hop in a car and go to a show within decent driving distance. The market in GA, SC, and NC is there. I know the bathroom bill in NC messed things up a few times (UGH!) and Atlanta not having a stadium ready this tour messed it up, but I don't know why Atlanta was skipped for the i + e tour. Still puzzles me. I wish they'd give the south a chance again. And no, Florida doesn't count as our market.
  4. Buffalo and Detroit (and Indy for that matter) over Denver? #sad and #failing said the guy in Boulder
  5. Yeah. Whoever booked this leg should be fired. I'll say it again, Paul McGuinness woulda looked at this and said "a sphincter says what? maybe in 1983 we play these markets"
  6. The pattern here is not red states... it's economically challenged cities. (and I hail from Buffalo before anybody jumps my shit)
  7. I'm a stadium guy. Yea it brings it's complications but there's nothing like it when you get a good crowd in. I'd like to see a best of both worlds tour with the band alternating indoor and outdoor productions. Too awkward logistically no doubt.
  8. I prefer arenas and seeing this tour made me miss Innocence + Experience. The only thing I really miss from TJT 2017 tour is the songs we probably won't hear again, but I have this underlying feeling that ONE of those songs will be played on the next tour. I got the impression at Brussels they were still excited to play the album in full and won't want to retire the deep cuts after Sao Paulo forever.

So yeah, I would be thrilled if they brought back the Innocence + Experience format next year, or even at some point. I agree in this article that the band rolled out more 'rarities', as such, and were convincingly vigorous in their performance. I mean, it really astonished me, seeing the likes of Gloria, The Electric Co. and Out of Control, that they were so energetic about these songs over 35 years later. The arena format made everything so intimate, I just struggled to connect with the stadium show.

    this.

    give me arenas any time.
  10. I like both arenas and stadiums. Stadiums are such a massive event and I just love it. Arenas are great too because the sound is far better and it's more intimate.
  11. I certainly think that the leg 3 choices are odd... But that said, a lot of people in my hometown in south Alabama are getting tickets for New Orleans (about three hours drive away). I'm actually a little surprised they don't stop in New Orleans more often, it seems like a good location for drawing in people from the south - New Orleans and Atlanta and somewhere in TN/NC seems like a good spread.

I'm all for the band playing unusual markets, because that lets a lot more people get a (close to) hometown show. BUT... That should be on tours either with a distinct theme geared towards a particular region (why I think the US is getting way more shows than Europe for TJT) or that are long and cover a lot of ground anyway. TJT DEFINITELY isn't the second, and i+e wasn't really either...Maybe e+i will be different. Or at least have its residencies in different cities!
  12. So the JT tour was cool. The setlist especially,

    But uhm.
Apart from a reasonable screen. THIS stadium tour wasn't that impressive stage wise?! (I'm fully aware this is probably an unpopular opinion...But hear me out)

The JT stage was pretty basic, the band didn't seem super dynamic, most of their songs played on the main stage , very occasionally tagging along the sides of mainstage, or tree stage but that's it...

If you have a seat or a place in the pitch further back. You'll see an ant sized band, if even..
And that's a bummer cause this band is out there having fun on stage, and they interact with each other and the crowd. One would just miss that on most of the JT shows if you are further back?

Then when you look back at perhaps,The I+E staging, that was so brilliant.

Walk in an hour after doors opened. And still have an decent spot.
For that reason alone. I would 100% say : Lads : Arena's please.

Also Arena's mean more dates and more possibilities.
And also. More dates means more "change" in the crowd up front. I'm all for that too.
