1. So what do we think is the common theme of the song, lyrically? Any thoughts?
  2. It's about these troubled times we live in. The lights can go out any minute. Just like the dinosaurs were wiped out by a meteor, we can be wiped out by bombs any minute. Some people are in the dark already, listening to.... (we all know who 'Big Mouth' is......) Essentially the message is: we must find the light in ourselves.

just my two cents........ something like this anyway.
  3. One thing is for sure, I absolutely love the first part of the bridge. It's what instantly drew me to the song the most. That "... no fear..." singing sound is perfect. It feels like walking inside a scary mysterious tunnel underground or something.

I think it's what separates the song from the "just a rock song" category like Miracle, to my ears. There's something behind this song, with more work behind it than the other "mindless" rock songs.

Also the fact that this isn't a simple "power chord rock song" from Edge does wonders imho. I just wish they had found something other to finish the song than a repeat of the chorus. Maybe they could have gone back to that amazing bridge sound/feeling for the ending, develop it more, and end on it ?

    Yes!

    Yes!

And yes, definitely yes. Spot on x3. The bridge is the key of the song, you described it perfectly!!

Now we get a clue of why it took them so long...

I may be a fan, but I'm not hard pressed to name EBW...
I think he means these singles (just like NLOTH's ones) went down the general audience without a/much fuss, unlike Vertigo and their previous hits. That's what I've been saying, that The Blackout -whether it's a better or worse song- has the potential to be a bigger hit than anything else since 2005.

I hear more than one big mouth these days...
