1. Wha...........

    Wow. No words.
  2. Elevation as a live track is very overrated for me. I know most hardcore fans don’t view it overly favourably but even some of the people that don’t say it works live or it’s a high energy track. Then there’s the casual fans who seem to go wild for it as well yet would go for a beer during Red Hill Mining Town Or Cedarwood Road.

All 3 tracks you mention are great IMHO.

But only one would really move me and that is/was RHMT this year.

... and I would never go for a beer while U2 are on stage. The time is too rare & valuable.
  4. Heartland. Never got the fan love for it.
  5. I was sooo hoping for them to play ASOH, more like this then how they did the last tour, with those funky keyboards........

This is the absolute best version of the song for me.

I've combined the standard version with the Alternate Vocal / Different Mix found on the Australian Unforgettable Fire 12" to allow for a song structure more similar to the album cut - including Edge's harmony vocals on the first verse and a complete second verse.

  6. Again, I gotta bring it up... All My Life.

It's a good song, I'd definitely love to see it finished and released. But... c'mon. It's not that great. I mean, how can you even tell, it's mainly ocean noise?

    Drag them Matthew.
And we were not supposed to say anything about GOOYOW because, you know, it was an incomplete video... with sound quality 10000 better than in All My Life.

    Freakin' zing, man.
  9. I keep thinking about how much the release form of a song affects the way we ( I ) feel about a song...

"If Boots hasn't been a lead single, would it been accepted better?"
"If SUC was a side b, would we be praising it as a fun b side that deserved to be on an album?"
"If Best Thing was an old beach clip would we be thinking of it as one of their best songs ever?"
"If All My Life had been a lead single, would we be saying how it's just a lazy attempt of regaining some of Beautiful Day's glory through a U2 by numbers track?"

Once said that, I really want All my Life to be released, and I do think it could be an awesome song and it certainly deserves a lot better than just that crappy recording, and I also love GOOYOW and Best Thing.
But I keep thinking those what ifs...

(And I'm not even including the nostalgia factor in this set of what ifs, which IMHO are affects even more our perception of U2 tracks)

I definitely go down this rabbit hole a lot. What if they had done just this one thing differently, and how might we be praising/complaining about/wondering about what they've done and what's next?
