  1. 50 years anniversary? Oh god, no, not U2.

  2. Lol, well maybe they will be touring there last album in 2026. That would be pretty cool, sad but 50 years doing what they do best and touring new material would be pretty special. The greatest hits tour would only be necessary if they had already wrote there last album and toured it a year or 2 prior but knowing u2 they could plan it out to wait for the big 5 0.
  3. I don't see it. You can really look at U2 as they are now (as in all four members) and think "these guys will still be going at it 10 years from now)? I can't. Frankly, I'm surprised they're still touring now. I suppose one could argue (and I'm sure they would) that this is what keeps them young and alive, rather than the opposite, but still. Too many things have been happening to them (namely Bono) over the past few years, and I feel like there's going to be a point when they realize they're not young men anymore and they want to see their kids grow old.

    I'm being pessimistic, of course I'd love to see U2 go on and I think they could, but I have to be ready for when they announce they won't. It helps that I really love SoE and could definitely see them looking at it and thinking "this is a fine one to end on". Obviously many other fans don't feel that way, but there'll never be one final album that'll unify all of us, no way. The themes of this album, the fact that it's closing up an "era", etc. In fact, the "50th anniversary tour" hypothetical that you're picturing (you know, being a celebration of their career) is pretty much how I see the JT 30th tour. They celebrated the album that probably the majority of U2 fans (including the casual fans) would point to as being their most seminal work, and I think that was part of a grander farewell as well.

    I hope I'm wrong.

    after 2018 tour , 3 years silence .....
    2021 30 anniversary of Achtung Baby and tour like JTT in 2017,
    at the end of the year ( they are more than 60 years old) the will release something like "songs of ascent" (maybe with soi and soe a trilogy) and a new tour like for Soi and Soe.
    After 2022 they will play only unplugged and in little locations like the Boss in Broadway now.

    YES from A to Z. Definitely agree with everything and I think that'll happen after the E&I tour wraps up – even if there's not any more health/safety incidents.

    Nevertheless I would LOVE to see the Songs trilogy being finished with Ascent, AND them touring in smaller arenas and even theatres to close everything off. And then, one only big stadium show to wrap everything up (in Dublin of course)... One can dream right
