I think we are all appreciative of peoples efforts to bring the website the best available recordings. I understand how certain recordings can be enhanced by certain peoples knowledge and application to make this happen.

To clarify the release it's a short version of the show originally broadcast in 1993 from the second Dublin show at the RDS. It is mistakenly introduced by BBC6 as being from 1994.
There are many excellent, full versions of this show including silver boots and a Westwood One promo. The sound quality was mixed live at the time by U2's own engineers and thrn transmitted to radio stations so the the quality is excellent. Unsurpassed imho. Shame it's the Dublin show and not the Cork one!
There is nothing new or original or startling in the BBC6 recording here except that it marks 25 years since the original broadcast. And it's nice to hear U2 on the radio. As an artefact it has a value in its own right.

Thank you for the upload! I have multiple silver boots, plus many downloaded versions plus the Westwood One version.

I noticed the channels are reversed on this edited version or am I crazy? Listen to The Fly with headphones on and the guitar that should be on the right channel is now on the left.

(Yes I know that's intentionally vague and teasing)

Your stuff is always top notch so if you do ever get motivated I look forward to it! If not I will enjoy what we do have which is still pretty darn good.
  4. I wonder if anyone has the actual live broadcast from that day. I'm not talking about that one by Westwood One that everybody knows. I've been curious how different the coverage was on BBC or RTE radio. That concert is near and dear to me because it inspired me to go see U2 live in Dublin, which I got to do on the I-E tour. I wish I did this in the 90s, but you know, I was in high school, and high school money don't get you very far.....
  5. I still have my cassette tapes of the actual recording from BBC Radio 1 that night, with the DJ’s (Johnny Walker) voice overs and the interruptions in songs when I had to change the tapes over. Great recording from nearly 25 years ago.

I still have the original RTE version on tape. Ditto Zoo Radio, Point Depot & Self Aid. The Edge spent an hour on the Dave Fanning show that summer also. I'll see if anything is worth tranferring.

I have mine too. Decided to use a C120 to record on one machine whilst a C90 recorded on another and then made an edit the next day. Old school. I recall the voice over commentary and when the broadcast ends the voice of the late great John Peel coming over the airwaves. More than likely the rest of his show is on that tape.

The tapes are still here in a towering box of well over a thousand cassettes full of U2 recordings ranging from interviews, soundchecks, rehearsals, impromptu performances, solo performances etc.

I still have my original DAT uninterrupted recording of the full show on US radio (Westwood One). The KTS bootleg I think had the best audio quality of them all. I have a different one that sounds a bit less range (called Dublin 93) that I bought a few months after the show in LA at a local record store.
