1. I assume he's referring to the bridge where Bono sings somewhat fast:

    "The sea knows
    Where are the rocks
    Drowning is no sin"

It's not quite rapping and it's my favorite part of the song!
  2. Nah, it's not rapping, which is why I put it in quotes

But yeah, I preferred that part as they performed it on the 360 tour. It was the best part of that iteration of the song and they totally squashed it down into this really fast, too wordy, build-up section - when I loved how it was originally.
  3. I love both versions, but I agree that the middle 8 was better in 2010, it had that sorrowful feeling that is just missing in the fast tempo way it's sung in studio
  4. best I've heard bono's voice this decade
  5. true.. Epic epic epic performance, when I first heard it, I was so overwhelmed and shocked. I might be exaggerating, but he perfectly hit some high notes in this one. brilliant

    Exactly! It was haunting.

I felt like they didn't know what to do with it there.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm glad we never got Songs of Ascent because Every Breaking Wave is so much better on SOI. I think it is up there with their best work ever and in 2010 it sounded good but it couldn't fly yet.
  8. Every dog on the street
Knows we’re in love with defeat
Instead of sweat off our feet

    2:45
  9. I actually know two people that thought bono sang
"Knows we're in love with duck feet"...

  10. I just bought a CD of this one. Live at the BBC.
