1. If you had any idea the literally tens of thousands of dollars I've spent on U2 merch, and the number of tracks I've bought 5times over just to get one "bonus" track, etc, looking down on someone like me asking for some help to find a few tracks to fill in some gaps would seem beyond laughable. My most recent one was the "Joshua Tree: New Roots" compilation I ordered from overseas solely for the live take of Red Hill Mining Town, although the rest of the CD was nice also.

So my point being: I'm not looking to build a collection from free tracks FFS. I was pretty clearly asking for things that one: wouldn't be on iTunes and two: are things U2 fans, COLLECTORS, would have. I'm 47, have been a fan for over 30 years, and am well past looking to mooch off the internet for my music, unless it is stuff I simply don't have a way to find any other way. And, to be honest, fan forums USED to be full of people willing to help out and point other U2 fanatics on the way in their pilgrimage. Sad to see those times are dying.

So, my lesson learned. This is the internet. And it's a FORUM on the internet. It's much easier to judge and throw rocks first, ask questions later. Or just throw the rocks, cuz that's more fun.

(Heh. Just noticed this self-appointed spokesperson ("WE'RE not going to help you...") for the forum is someone who registered 4 years ago... I go back only 12 years. But, clearly, I'm just here for the handouts. )

I got some help from other forum members and other forums. Thanks to those with constructive, friendly help. Larry had two words for the rest of you.
  2. I'm sorry to see that things went south so quickly in this thread.

Put it this way: It might be helpful for you to tell us if there is something(s) in particular that you are looking for and then "we" can go from there.

So you would be happy to risk the future of this site and what it offers to fans in exchange for you alone to obtain information? If you think any of the guys on here are doing it to make a point or whatever you are seriously mistaken, the people that responded to you are big fans too but don’t want to risk the future of this site, maybe you didn’t realise with Remy’s original post but it has to be accepted that they have a strict stance on this stuff with all the legalities.

Congratulations on being a fan for over 30 years and being registered on the site for 12 years!

This rule applies to everyone. As Remy said, eBay, Discogs, etc.

RUMMY: I appreciate your kindness and your helpful tone. And to hawkmoon_269 also.

I did have one item that started me on my quest, which was only stated to be for a website and nothing specific. I have since located the track I was hoping to locate. Thank you anyway.
  6. Qobuz, 7Digital and Bandcamp are all excellent resources also.
  7. When people post in caps. It means something.

Please feel free to DM me if it is problematic to share publicly.

    thank you!

    U2star, I think
  9. U2star. Happy days.
  10. I remember U2mp3s as well. And who here remembers thelarrymullenband.com? I think that was the place where I got most of the bootlegs that eventually ended up here in the collection.

Yep! I remember that one! It was really good! I wish U2 would officially release all their early rare demo stuff digitally, maybe someday???
  12. For info RSD is 13th April 2019.
