1. Maybe it's because I'm watching on my phone, but I don't really see anything strange?
Also, if you mean that you can hear him when he is away from the microphone, doesn't the same happen during Zoo Station on the Chicago 2005 DVD? When Bono walks towards edge on the catwalk.
Maybe it's just the video of one night combined with the audio of another?

    It's not.

They used the same vocal track for the entire tour.

Compare the Rose Bowl with below. It's exactly the same.

  3. Just listened to the triple vinyl release from Buenos Aires... stunning! If only U2 would release something like this...
  4. Yeah pretty sure that vocal track is mimed. But.... WHY??? It's not a difficult song to sing compared to a lot of their other songs. And apparently Chris's piano is live as well as the rest of the band. It's just baffling.
  5. Some of their recent songs have a lot of pre-recorded instruments when played live (A Sky Full Of Stars, Hymn For The Weekend) but I was watching U2 play Invisible on the Paris bluray the other night and at least half of the instrumentation is pre-recorded (including the guitar solo which was removed!!!)
But at least Bono never lip-synched a lead vocal. That would be a bit shit.

Yes I was thinking I’m actually happy Bono lost his voice in Berlin. At least he isn’t mining.

Apparently Chris mimed Up&Up at some shows early on in the European leg of the tour in 2016.

U2 never liked miming it's one of the reasons they didn't go on Top of the Pops in the mid 80s and 90s which at the time was essential if you wanted a high chart placing (they still managed that but would have had a few more number 1s) when they did appear in the 00s they were one of the few acts to sing and play live.

Yep! I found it encouraging that -even though they thought of doing it to save the particular show- they refused to use Bono's pre-recorded vocals in Berlin2 and decided to cancel the show instead.
  9. They did do top of the pops in 1992 but it was a beamed in live performance of One from Lakeland Florida.
  10. Been listening to these guys again over the past few days (mainly the first three albums).

I really want these guys to have an All That You Can't Leave Behind moment and go back to:

    Drums
    Bass
    Guitar
    Piano
    Acoustic Guitar
    Vocals

And that's it. Get in a room and write songs and don't over-produce them. If I can get picky and even more entitled, I want them to start writing songs again that aren't so damn surface.
