1. What is the difference with the DVD? If I may ask?

  2. Everything received from U2.com is sold at high prices
Maybe some mutha***** just subscribe to re-sell....
  3. And I think the dvd sold in the cd jewel case is quite rare, right?

It is the same with concert tickets. People are only interested in making quick and easy money.
  6. One of the good things about the U2 community is the way that concert tickets are shared at face value. What if there was an equivalent physical releases exchange? I gave this a lot of thought in the past and went as far as registering a website, before being side-tracked by other projects.

I have a ton of spares that I'd like move on at a fair price, however that would be calculated, but I do not ever want these to end up with the gombeenmen* who fleece fans. I'm sure others feel the same.

Calculating the prices is a tricky thing, but options include: face-value for recent releases, an average based on Discogs prices for older releases or the recommendation of a pricing committee drawn from fans.

There are dozens of what-ifs, but if it works for tickets it may work for physical releases.

  7. I agree with you. It is what you would expect. But someone just said that items are being sold for $ 80.— ...
  8. There are a few kingpins focusing on U2 items on eBay, certainly here in the UK, and a ton of nefarious characters in Mexico and Hong Kong selling cardboard and plastic masquerading as rare CDs. I would recommend that anyone making a consipicuous U2 purchase online avoids eBay completely. It is a nest of spiders for collectors. Putting a flag up on a fan forum, whether here or u2.com or any other reputable forum, is probably more cost effective and the best way to avoid fakes. Especially with fan releases; lots of people are happy to just give them away. Failing that, Discogs is almost always reliable and in most cases fairly priced. Oh, and get a second opinion from a fellow collector and/or cross reference with u2songs.com before pushing 'Pay.'

On a serious note, if anyone is interested in a U2 Record Exchange, I'd definitely be up for helping devote time and resources to help found it.
  9. I hope you can help some true fans.
  10. eBay is surely a jungle of greedy bastards
Personally I use only Discogs which is easier to work with and with the help of PayPal you can solve any negative experience
And personally I would shame selling things at prices just for money
    It’s not my nature
  11. It just needs time and committment from three or four individuals. Unfortunately, most of those inclined are already involved elsewhere. But feel free to PM me if anyone is willing to row in.

100% agree with the Discogs shout @Fly40. It is a fantastic resource. Given the friendly nature of the u2 community and the amazing online discographies and forums, there is no need for U2 fans to be fleeced on eBay.

In the meantime, I am happy to rule the rule over any UK-based eBay listings that anyone wants vetted. I've been an eBay member since 2001 and I've seen what was once a thriving U2 marketplace ruined, but I have an extensive blacklist of current operators!
  12. I can't imagine that it is, I thought that was basically the standard way it was sold

I've got one, if its worth anything someone can gladly pay plenty of money for mine
