1. We have a new You Too poll, you can vote for this new poll on the frontpage and discuss it in this thread.

The question of this new You Too is:

You Too: It is rumoured that U2 will tour in Australia and Asia end of 2019, what would you like this tour to be?
-A continuation of the Joshua Tree 30 anniversary tour
    -A Lovetown 30 anniversary tour
    -A mix of the latest 3 tours (IE + JT30 + EI)
    -Something completely new

Please vote on the frontpage of the website, in this topic you can tell us why you voted for your answer.
  2. I’ve went for a mix of the last 3 tours but I’m still hoping for maybe 1 or 2 new songs to be released to play as well. That’s what I’m hoping for though not expecting I think it won’t include much SOI or SOE songs 1 or 2 from each album at most.
  3. NLOTH 10th Anniversary tour..
  4. Never gonna happen , but it would be most ideal to have different nights , one focussed on JT / Lovetown and nostalgia setlists, for anyon, And one focussed on the newer stuff, the IE + EI tour legs , and maybe some demos they want to test live.

    A girl can dream.
  5. i think it's time for U2 to plan their last tour. It could begin on November this year and the last date could be in Dublin on september 2020.
i don't want to see the best band of the world in a bad way.
so an incredible setlist, an incredible show, an incredible night......and THE END

And you will be there every night, right?
  7. Very interesting poll!

While personally for me, a mash up of 3 tours in one sounds super fun and interesting, it could also present some complex issues in terms of staging, playability and more importantly time. Less than a year til the Australasian Tour. Logistically speaking it doesn't sound feasible so quick.

So, the most realistic answer based on U2's history? A totally new tour.

They've always said in interviews that whether writing an album or creating a tour, the question is always asked amongst themselves: what HASN'T been done before? Their inspiration has always been forward thinking, future centric. Its who they are and what they've always felt the inspiration going to, inventing a new feeling, not dig up something from the past and do it the exact same way.

One could make the argument that the 2017 Joshua Tree Tour was a unique exception to the rule. But to that I say, true, but even when they do try to "go back" to an era of their most popular album, Joshua Tree, they revisited NOT in the context of 1987, but revisited in the context of 2017. None of the references, time or places FROM 1987 were presented on the 2017 tour and judging from some aspects of the show itself (in my case seeing Miss Sarajevo highlighting the Syrian crisis and immigration crisis), it displayed the album and show in a modern 2017 perspective. So even the past is revisted in a modern conversation, in the case of JT 2017.

So yeah. The Australasian tour will be a totally new, different and no less awesome fun ride to behold.

    Dream out loud!

(Also got me thinking... what will a FINAL U2 tour be? A mash up of ALL their stage shows into one? )
  8. personally, I don't care, as I'm not going to attend the shows.. for the locals I hope it's going to be more or less the same as JT30. So I voted for that, but maybe they can bring it as a Lovetown anniversary tour.. but it will not be like Lovetown.
  9. LT30 with video of Rene Castro art.
  10. Actually it would be cool if they incorporated LT art as a homage.
