1. Found this from Sydney Morning Herald on 24th April.

The initial plan was for ANZ to be renovated and ready in time for the 2021 grand final, but it is increasingly unlikely to be completed in time. Instead of beginning works at the end of the year, the timeframe has now been pushed back. In anticipation of delays, the Olympic venue will now host the Queen and Adam Lambert Rhapsody Tour on February of next year, while ANZ may not have its business case to the state government until May or even June. The hold-ups will likely mean the ground can’t host the 2021 grand final, which would force the NRL to look at alternative options

The Grand Final takes place at begining of October so the venue could be out of action for a while.
  2. yep, it's all been delayed.

Events already booked at ANZ stadium: NRL grand final Oct 6th 2019, Metallica Oct 26th 2019, Queen Feb 15th 2020.

Definite window for U2 on 22, 23rd Nov 2019. Outside the football/rugby season, so should be no worries.
  3. SCG is better than ANZ anyway other than seeing a show with 85k people
  4. True. ANZ is a hellhole, especially in summer. The Moore Park precinct (the SCG & Allianz stadium) would also be much more central for tourists.

If only they'd started with the ANZ stadium renovation, before the Allianz rebuild. But as it stands Allianz will be a hole in the ground by Nov 2019. So back to ANZ to see U2 for me
  5. And one train track in and out 45 mins from the cbd with ridiculously overpriced hotels or a huge taxi bill back woo
  6. Yeah, I've been checking hotel prices for the last month. It's not pretty!
  7. Wishful thinking on my part, but one line in U2Song's update that piqued my interest was this,

"Rehearsals for the tour will start in mid-October and initially will not be held at the same location that the tour will start".

If the rumors are true that U2 are planning an extended stay in Sydney, maybe they are also considering rehearsing there? They'll most likely have 2 stages (though only one screen). Only one stage will be needed in NZ, so the other could be used for rehearsals in Sydney.

Plenty of celebs stay (& some live) at Palm Beach, on the northern beaches of Sydney. Brookvale Oval (Lottoland), used in winter for rugby league, isn't too far away. Though the local residents are always complaining about the noise from a rugby game, I don't think they'd be too fond of U2 songs being belted out for 2 weeks

Another option from Palm beach could be the sea plane, which could take them elsewhere for rehearsals.
  8. BA are having a sale. 4 nights hotel and flights starting at £560 in Singapore.

Or they rehearse in Canada, like the last 3 tours.
  10. I already booked hotels for all cities a few weeks ago, and prices are already increasing! (refundable obviously)

To add to this and to answer Street fighters question(s).

As far as i see it touring JT makes a huge amount or commercial sense. JT30 was a commercial & critical success in 2017 and pretty much sold out (minus the 2nd N.America leg which was done in order to facilitate the S.America leg). JT is U2s biggest selling & most well known album & there was a huge amount of demand for the JT30 tour - especially in Europe.

Putting together a new tour & associated kit for what amounts to a handful of dates doesn’t make commercial sense when you have a stage & a show (in terms of the visual elements/set list etc.) that’s pretty much ready to go (no doubt minus a few tweaks & a few weeks of rehearsal). Without a new album to tour (and who knows whether a new album could sell out stadiums anyway these days even in Oz?) then I see this as a ‘hit’ in terms of the money they’ll make for themselves and LN and they’ll no doubt garner some good press in those territories that will shift some copies of SOE (they’ll no doubt play a few numbers) & JT.

Plus...all back home for Xmas & an extra large turkey on the table all for just a months ‘work’!!

Yes, I understand your reasons. I agree that JTT was a success and an "easy way" to go for them if they will go down under. But after more than 2 years and after they moved on artistically with E&I, now they go back to it? Mmmmmmm, I think it is not typical of this band. To be honest, it is not typical of any band! I don't have any memories of a band making a tour in EU and USA and SA, then making a new album and another tour in EU and USA, then saying: "ehi, let's go back to the previous tour!". People continue to tell me about "signs" and "sources". To be honest, eveything comes from U2Songs, which is often reliable, but they are the only channel where rumors come from. U2Songs rumors too are based on U2Songs "sources", that we don't know how much reliable they are. Management? People closed to the band? Or, at the contrary, people not really in the knowledge of the band's plans? The same source that was saying that the announcement was for sure on the 12th of April? The same source that was saying that the tour was for sure not branded JTT and that now says that it is branded JTT? Sorry, but I can believe a news only if I know exactly the source where it comes from, and if I can see that the source is a reliable one. Before reading about phisics, for example, I have to check if I'm on a scientific site or on a flat earth fans site: I mean, we have to know the origin of the information. At the moment we don't know the sources. And no journalists of the music sector are talking about this forthcoming tour, at the moment. Signs? People tend to see only signs that they want to see. About me, I can see also signs that there will be no tour. Adam 2 months ago said practically that there will be no tour without new material. For me it means: there will be no tour without new material! But for a lot of people, as I read here, means: there will be no tour in EU or USA (Australia yes!) without new material (except Australia that we can go with the old! and maybe new material is a live DVD with old material!). Who should i believe to? Unidentfied "sources" or Adam? Maybe Adam, what do you say? In the end, I can be completelly wrong, but allow me to be doubtful about it until monday, at less!
