This tour is for Australia/NZ/Asia who haven't had concerts since 2010!

This tour is not for US/Europe who have had the opportunity to see them 3 times in the last 4 years.

If you are rich enough to travel to these shows, good for you but don't expect dramatically different setlists. You know they don't do things this way. This is a short tour, why shouldn't they take it easy like a paid vacation and just make minimal changes to the JT setlist and maybe change a few songs at the beginning and end?

I'm just saying don't be surprised and don't moan about it when inevitably the setlists are boring to you since you've been listening to so many shows on Mixlr and Periscope all this time and/or attending shows.

I for one and thrilled for the Australian/NZ and Asian fans who get to see our boys again. They deserve it, and any show they get, it's going to be 100% new to THEM!

My only complaint about this tour is that the shows will be super early morning for me, so there's little chance I will be able to listen. I need my sleep. But thankfully we have U2start so I can listen to the shows later.

    Lurker mode back on...
    ...

If they play the standardish Joshua Tree 2017 Tour setlist (with IWF, and not Little Things at the end), then the band will be playing maybe one or two 27 year old songs that the Aus / NZ / Japan haven't seen before, and all of the other songs will be no less than 15 years old.

It will have been nine years since these countries last saw U2. It would be foolish *not* to play at least some of the songs from SOE or SOI.

The JoshuaTree32 will be *new* to these areas, but the songs won't. The only rational and creative approach would be to play some of the newer songs from SOI and SOE in the set. If they come back with the standardish TJT30 setlist it will be a nostalgic cashgrab that makes the band look ashamed of their most recent three albums.

The only rationale in that case - apart from making the band even richer than they already are - would be to get the band up to live performance speed to make recording the next album smoother.

Personally I'd love them to open with

Blackout / Lights Of Home / I Will Follow / Gloria / Sunday* / NYD / Bad / Pride / The Joshua Tree

encore 1 : Dirty Day / Zoo Station / Fly / Stay / Wild Horses or
encore 1 : Beautiful Day / Ocean / Iris / Cedarwood Road / Sunday Bloody Sunday / Until The End Of The World

encore 2 : Best Thing or Breaking Wave / Beautiful Day* / Vertigo / Love Is Bigger / One

*not played twice, though. This isn't 2005.

That would be 30 songs and too long for them.
  2. I imagine the band will want to play Love is Bigger, so there’s at least one new song.

Other that that, I would assume the setlist to be very similar to 2017 but with a few additions/substitutions of R&H & I+E.
  3. Congrats to everyone in Australia/Asia/New Zealand.
Set will likely be a mix of JT SOI SOE. Hopefully Love is bigger gets the closer spot instead od 13.
  4. Bigger was the highlight of EI. I don't see it not being played.

How does it make any difference what the band play in terms of the tour being defined as a cash grab? That doesn’t make any sense. The band aren’t going to make any more or less money by playing lights Of home instead of SBS Or love is bigger instead of One.

The songs the band play, and how they present them, will be the difference between a lazy rerun of past glories to make millions and squillions of dollars... and an artistic statement of relevancy.

Maybe the tour isn’t about making an artistic statement of relevancy, doesn’t mean it’s lazy and it definitely doesn’t mean that it’s main motive is to make money. If the band enjoyed playing the shows in 2017 and feel like the audience is going to enjoy it why not repeat it? Unlike when they release a new album, there isn’t anything to promote with this tour, they’re just celebrating TJT with there fans, and they’re going to have a blast. I think people suggesting the band are more interested in the money than the thrill they get from playing the show don’t know the band at all.
  8. I think the less you expect from the setlist, the more exciting the show will be...

Why would you think the band would want to completely drop the songs from their last two albums and play nothing but songs that are between 15-40 years old? Given how much work they put into both iE and Ei it would seem a bit strange not to adapt at least some of it for the 2019 shows especially when the iE and Ei tours never made it there. iE and Ei were the best tours of theirs I have seen. TJT30 was the least satisfying to me.

But so be it. We disagree.

We don’t disagree about the quality of the I&E and E&I tours which I too thought were great, E&I Berlin 3 was the best show I’ve been to. I just think similar to them not feeling the need to play any SOI in 2017 they won’t feel the need to play any SOI or SOE this time. They might not have played these songs in these parts of the world yet but by the time they get to these countries on previous tours the number of songs from the most recent album has dropped anyway and this time they aren’t focusing on the most recent album, so not playing anything from it wouldn’t be making a great exception from the band’s point of view. What I will say is I’m not saying 100% they definitely won’t play anything from the last 2 albums, I’m saying I think they won’t. Love is bigger and EBW would be easy enough to fit in but most of the other SOI and SOE songs they played regularly between I&E and E&I just strike me as the type of song the band will feel are specific to they tours and won’t carry forward in the future. We’ll see though, I really will be happy to be proven wrong for when I listen in as I love the songs and second guessing the band is never wise so they might play plenty from they albums after all.
  11. It is the first real performance in Asia.

Most fans in Korea and Asia don't know much about "U2."

    It's not a mania.

We have to sing the main songs.

That's the only way to impress you.

    to give a typical example

"Acrobat" <- It's a bit strange to Asian fans who are new to U2.

Asian fans like the song "City Of Blinding Lights" <- U2

    I am a U2 fan of Korea.

I am not good at English. I hope you understand.

In general, Asian and Korean fans generally prefer songs with good melody.

City Of Blinding Lights, Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of
    ,Elevation,Beautiful Day,Mysterious Ways,Angel Of Harlem,Sweetest Thing

Most Koreans and Asians love this style of music
