He's spot on with that version though. Great stuff.
Same here, 28 years and Santa still hasn't brought a Gretsch Country Gentleman nor a Gretsch White Falcon. I'm starting to think I'm not as good as my grandma said
  2. Not U2 but this is the general cover topic so

  3. Tears in my eyes.

  4. Love this track, spent last night and today sequencing/recording my own version! Hope you enjoy :)
  5. This rocks! Great for karaoke and guitar improv purposes Thanks for sharing.

UV is one of the hardest songs to play (and get right) on guitar IMO. It's so tiring for the right hand and arm. You've done a great job there Love the percussion as well (is that congas a la UTEOTW intro?), although the tambourine at 3:10 and 4:30 is a bit too prominent. Other than that it's a neat version!

Thank you so much!! It's just a bit too high for my voice (as are most U2 songs which sucks!) - but it means I can put more effort into playing the other instruments.

It sounds a bit like that now I've had a break and come back to it, it's just 2 percussion tracks that happen to work quite nicely together, and yeah by the time I'd recorded all the drums and moved on it was gonna be too much of a hassle to record and produce them all again with a nicer tambourine level, so I'm alright with it - but thanks for the lovely comments!!

Bono has shown some truly insane voice ranges throughout the years, Ultraviolet is one of them for sure. I was singing along to The Joshua Tree earlier this morning while in the car and I was amazed at how few of the tones I could reach in full voice - and I'm now roughly the same age as Bono was when they recorded that album. I used to reach all the tones with no problem but not anymore, at least not while seating and driving So I definitely get where you're coming from!

Even Bono usually needs the songs down half a tone in Eb or Ab - live anyway; they can have as many goes as they want in the studio and he can have 5 goes at reaching things in E and A I guess... (those keys just because most U2 songs are in E or A).... New Year's Day and Bad get played down a full tone from the originals too now and Pride has always been down a full tone in D!! So even Bono can't do it all the time.... but man he's got an insane register (and we can't forget Edge who might even have a bigger one; be does all the insane harmonies after all!) [ - I realise that's a bit off topic but still....]
