Does anyone know for a fact if it was rehearsed then?
There is recording of that rehearsals and it was played there twice and definitely different versions than all studio recordings

Haha, yeah, I've read that U2gigs disclaimers many times and always wondered how much truth there is to it. It's very well known that the band's techs usually blast out studio/live recordings over the PA to test the sound before the band arrives, so it could have been the case of Electrical Storm...

...it's just that it wasn't. There's two recordings of the rehearsals and Electrical Storm is there, well interlaced between the rest of the songs rehearsed:

  3. Thanks for clearing that up, I’ve not heard they rehearsals before, would be interesting to know what electrical storm sounded like back then. Interesting to see they must have been considering crumbs for the European leg as well, would have loved to witness they 2 songs in person.

I'll see if I have the Brussels rehearsals anywhere in my hard drive(s) and share them with you. The dress rehearsal is easier to find, but the evening rehearsal is quite rare.

Cheers for that, I don’t usually listen to rehearsals except maybe songs that don’t end up making the cut or significantly different versions of songs, this ones definitely taken my interest though. I hope they didn’t spend the next 4 years working on it only to drop it after a few outings lol.

I definitely have it so if Sergio won't find it I'll upload that for ya on friday or weekend...
  7. Thank you for that offer too Alvin, I’ll let you know if Sergio has got it to me before Friday.

You knew about Electrical Storm being rehearsed in the fortnight leading to the Barcelona gigs, didn't you? Even u2com hinted at it with their countdown vids
Dirty Day was well known in advance.

I’d saw the teaser video back in 09 but had presumed it was one of things that would never see the light of day, and especially not on the second night of the tour! Thought night two was going to be a tune up of night one. And so early in the set. There was an audible ‘woah’ around the stadium and even I took five seconds to work out what song it was.
  9. They really messed it up in Barcelona it sounds like 4 audience members trying their luck with it,good song but the tempo of it makes it difficult to perform however they did nail "Boy falls from the sky" on that tour which is a similar paced song although they were well into the tour at that stage.

I never really got the complaints. Edges guitar goes a little wonky at times but I thought the verses (and particularly the first) were pure gold.

There is a lot of stop starting in it and it's mid tempo so live it doesn't flow well obviously the studio versions flow better with a lot of sonic effects, the (Band Version)on the best of 90-00 is far superior to the William orbit mix IMO

I also prefer the band version. But it was so great seeing it live
