1. Definitely a good point there - he becomes grounded again, calling home.
  2. I was not really a fan of the acoustic version and was so puzzled as to why they performed it this way on tour. I changed my mind a bit when I read some people’s take here that it was meant to “ground” Bono again after Acrobat.

And also the acoustic version itself: I listened to it yesterday after listening to SOE. I kind of took the perspective that the quiet parts were Paul Hewson singing to Ali one on one but then when he bursts out at the end he is Bono on stage belting out his love to the audience.

    Nice take.
  4. Last night, I listened to this for the first time in ages.

    It's bad. Really bad.

    Straight in the bin.
  5. That first chorus that just sounds like it’s cut in from a completely different take. Ohhh it’s poor.
  6. I really like both versions :/
  7. I still love this song and think it is definitely one of their better songs of this decade.
  8. I like Edge's Tele tone on the single/album version.
  9. Its ok not tbeir best but way better than GOOYOW
  10. A nagging song with a high level of irritation. Definitely one of the lesser songs.
  11. Absolutely awful.

    Dreadful radio-friendly radio-written piffle.

Clean, sterile and embarrassing for a band that wrote Acrobat.

This is the side of U2 that I don't like.
  12. I still like the E&I version. It seems a much more meaningful song with that arrangement, the lyrics seem to mean more. I can tolerate the album version but can’t really properly get into it, it’s a bit silly, jolly almost, not the worst but I wouldn’t be adding it to any playlist, only listen to it when listening to SOE in full.
