Joshua Tree Tour 2019
Legs (1): New Zealand, Australia and Asia
Shows: 15
  1. 15 shows is very short tour by U2 standards they'll be only hitting their stride by the time it finishes, it's a pity they don't do the festival circuit during the summer you see a lot of big bands like The Cure,Foo Fighters and The Killers doing festival shows and what better way to play to an unconverted audience.

I guess that U2 are too expensive for the festivals. I think they get way more for a concert than the bands you are listing.
  3. I don't know about you guys. But I just can't see the band ending TJT trek with a half-empty show in the Philippines.
  4. I agree it seems strange to end on that kind of note. If India won't work, perhaps Bangkok might work? Coldplay recently played to over 60,000 at Rajamangala Stadium. The great Ed Sheeran played there even more recently, and only managed 29,000, so it's not a given that U2 would be an easy sell out... especially at their prices.

It's strange... I won't be attending any of these shows. I'm just SUPER curious about how many people they'll draw in, for some reason. I'm kind of disappointed that Australia didn't do better in the sales department, mainly because that might impede future Australian tours.
  5. That's probably why it took so long.
  6. That's true, I kinda forgot that 360 wasn't exactly an overwhelming success in Australia.
  7. But still twice as successful as this upcoming tour will be. Not exactly surprising, though.
  8. Not many bands or solo singers would pull in half the numbers U2 get ,if they were really desperate like Elton John to sell tickets they would call it "The farewell tour " granted the bland ED Sheeran is doing big business across the globe however will he still be doing those sort of numbers 4 decades into his career?I highly doubt it probably end up like David Gray playing small theatres.

I might add that it wasn't just Pittsburgh or NOLA in 2017.

I met a fan who went to every show except Buffalo in September 2017. She said that there were loads of empty seats in Kansas City. There were also pockets of empty seats in Indianapolis. In Phoenix, the stage was moved up to the 50-yard line in order to make it look like a full house. Finally, I believe that the St. Louis show would've suffered the same fate had that show went on as planned.
