    There are people in India who are waiting literally their entire life for a U2 show in India, and I guess they have saved the money for that.

    My colleague gets 800 EUR per month, so it's not like 4000-5000 US$ a GA ticket of 90 EUR, but more like as we would have to pay 350 EUR, compared to my salary.
    Of course, it depends on what someone earns, but my colleague has a normal salary for an employee I think (not for a worker).

    10000 = 127 euros. So your colleague earns a fortune for India proportions.

    But yeah, these acts are very popular in India :M Very nice for the locals. (who can afford it)

  4. These ticket prices don’t look good on paper compared to a national minimum wage but it’s quite a misleading way to look at it. If the band charged less for a ticket I think it would just mean the people that can already afford a ticket at these prices getting a cheaper ticket. I don’t think it would open the door to many others because if your wages are that low the last thing you would be thinking about is attending a concert. There’s probably quite a big gap between people in a decent earning job and people in a poor earning job and they were never going to be able to pitch a ticket price in that gap. Or rather if they did try it still wouldn’t have been able to appeal to those on the lesser wages.
  5. I've had quite the discussion with an Indian guy that says they're affordable... Only to end up with the same conclussion: these tickets are affordable if you're part of the 20% of the population who is actually rich (to their standards).

    Justin Bieber was 4k to 75k (same stadium)
    Coldplay were also 4k to 25k (80k people, different venue)

    It was probably going to be that 20% that were going though even if the tickets were priced at £10 each. If your poor you don’t spend £10 on a ticket in any country you’re trying to put food on the table. Some of that 20% are maybe made up of people earning what would be considered an average wage in Europe and that’s there realistic target market.
  11. Question because I’am quite unaware if the level of the gap between those in different job types, would there be a large chunk of the population without a bank card? Or without a device to be able to get online? I ask in relation to purchasing a ticket but also to get more of an idea on people’s living standard, maybe not in the worst cases but outside of that wealthy 20% somewhere in the middle, I’ve heard from a fellow u2starter that WiFi costs are cheap but if you don’t own a device to use it on that’s not much good to anyone.
