  6. So, now that setlist parties are being mentioned I would like some insights from you wonderful people...

I am planning on having a complete blackout of any U2 news regarding setlists once they begin rehearsals as I don't want there to be any spoilers and hope for some surprises... My first U2 show was Melbourne 2 on Vertigo and I kept right up with the setlists and knew pretty much what they were going to play and in which order (obviously bar a couple of rotational spots). Does knowing what they're going to play spoil it for you guys? For example, they played Kite and I can't help but imagine if I didn't know they were going to play Kite and they pulled it out near the end it would have taken the whole experience to a whole new level.

Similar things when I saw them at Melbourne 1 on 360. I knew most of what they were couple to play and in what order. Again, a couple of rotational spots were surprises (we got Bad and Mercy ).

Anyways, to my question, do you think it's a good idea to avoid setlist spoilers? Obviously i know it will be very similar to JT17 but I wouldn't mind avoiding any massive spoilers (if there are any) this time around. Thoughts?
  7. Are you going to Melbourne again, will that be your first show?

If so I think it'd be possible & a good idea to avoid spoilers, as it'll be just the rehearsals & three shows you'll miss. Then you can join the set list parties for the remainder of the tour. I think it could be well worth the effort, as I'm hoping for a couple of surprises too.

One thing that I don't like being spoiler-free about for a new tour is the stage setup. Sure I'd love it if it was all fresh & new at the show, but I also want to know how to get to a great spot in GA. Especially true for 360, which was a maze to get to the front, but not a worry this time around.

But I certainly wish I was spoiler free for highlights on 360 like Ultraviolet, & as you say, Vertigo for Kite.

I'll try to be spoiler free this time around, as I'm going to Brisbane, so only the rehearsals & a couple of shows to avoid. Sure,

I've seen shows very late in the tour for 360, i+e & e+i. For e+i I went to Belfast, so couldn't stay spoiler free for just about the entirety of the tour. But tried to at least be spoiler free from the European leg. Didn't work out though. Got spoiled about a few great surprises (The Fly, Zoo Station, Horses). The only things that were surprises were the disappointment of missing Love Is All We Have Left & Red Flag Day

But this time around, with only a few shows, I think it'll be well worth the effort. Yeah, much of the setlist will be like last time, but hopefully we get a few added gems.

Yes I'm going to Melbourne again in GA to have my "fan boy" moment and then Sydney 1 the week after in some seats where I can kick back and enjoy the spectacle

you're right, only be a few shows beforehand should make it a lot easier being a shorter period of time. I'm thinking I will buckle down and avoid the fan sites and Facebook as much as I can and hope for a surprise or two

    Thanks for your input
  9. Personally, it doesn't bother me although any surprise is welcome.

I think it was Facebook that spoilt it for me last time. Pretty much have to avoid Facebook I'd think. The forums have spoiler-free threads, so it's possible to stay on the forums a bit. Occasionally somebody will post something they shouldn't, but it's rare.

My first show is Brisbane and I'm tempted to stay spoiler free too. I didn't look at the set list before Twickenham 1 and when Noel and U2 did DLBIA it was a genuine surprise to me - I want that feeling again. Then again I love reading the latest rehearsal news and getting caught up in the hype.
