I am planning on having a complete blackout of any U2 news regarding setlists once they begin rehearsals as I don't want there to be any spoilers and hope for some surprises... My first U2 show was Melbourne 2 on Vertigo and I kept right up with the setlists and knew pretty much what they were going to play and in which order (obviously bar a couple of rotational spots). Does knowing what they're going to play spoil it for you guys? For example, they played Kite and I can't help but imagine if I didn't know they were going to play Kite and they pulled it out near the end it would have taken the whole experience to a whole new level.

Similar things when I saw them at Melbourne 1 on 360. I knew most of what they were couple to play and in what order. Again, a couple of rotational spots were surprises (we got Bad and Mercy ).

Anyways, to my question, do you think it's a good idea to avoid setlist spoilers? Obviously i know it will be very similar to JT17 but I wouldn't mind avoiding any massive spoilers (if there are any) this time around. Thoughts?
It's perfectly feasible and something you will thank yourself for I stayed spoiler-free for the EU leg in 2015 since my first show was Amsterdam, I only had to avoid a couple of gigs (Turin 1&2 and Amsterdam 1,2&3 - so similar to your blackout until Melbourne). Being a mod from the world's biggest U2 fansite made it a tiny bit harder to stay spoiler free, but it was SO worth it - October and Zooropa were MASSIVE surprirses for me (apart from Magnificent which was a one off and hence a surprise for everyone, spoiler-free or not). So yeah, definitely go for it.

  2. Atlanta is a great example funnily enough. The high pitch whine is a good few seconds early.
  3. Wow, that's... Lame. It sounds SO out of place there Well, mission accomplished: you just busted a myth for me.

They clearly hadn't perfected in in early 92 because it kicks in early in New York as well (around the 1:05 mark... barely listenable due to the poor audio quality, but still):

  4. Wow, not long at all now until Auckland!

The crowd still cheer for the lights at least.
  6. The crowd roar has remained (although diminished as the smartphone addiction arised) thankfully
  7. It never properly recovered after Vertigo. 360 started with a crap Segue and wasn’t particularly bright. 2015 was ok but Bono never shut up.

They just need Larry to bring the sticks back during the intro and the song would come back to life a bit.

I 100% agree about Larry's part in the intro.
