They should've just gone ahead with the 2nd Melbourne show. I'd say worst case scenario they'd still sell 40,000 tickets, which seems to be the norm for this leg anyway.
  2. The numbers are interesting. As with most tours they classify all of them as sold out even though there would have been spots available in quite a few of the shows, other tickets would have been give away for free. The Perth show in particular interests me. it was classified as sold out at 46k tickets but there seemed to be more in the crowd. Optus stadium seats 60k people, slightly bigger than Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, but having gone to both shows I don't believe there was a 13k people difference between the two shows. Apparently quite a few tickets were given away for the Perth show, so maybe they don't count those tickets towards that figure.
  3. Ed Sheeran had 57,000 both nights at the Perth stadium. But 46,000 in Perth is still a good crowd size, I'm not gonna pick at that one.

Ed also played to 62,000 at the Adelaide Oval, whereas U2 sold 30,780. U2 did have a lot of sections blocked off. Ed's stage is smaller, and was farther back on the field than U2's was. That U2 stage was designed for stadiums with a rectangular field. The Oval type fields means U2 have to move forward with their wide screen/stage, making the capacity less. But let's not also forget, Ed Sheeran is way more popular than U2, especially Australia it seems.

I don't have a problem with 46k in Perth is still quite a good number, just seemed larger on the night - seemed quite close to Melbourne's crowd, not 13k less.

Ed is way more popular than U2 but that's not to U2's discredit. Basically no other artist is able to tour stadiums and pack them out the way U2 does in their 50s. I doubt Ed will be filling stadiums in his 40/50s the way U2 has and will most likely continue to do. U2's tour relevancy and staying power is unlikely most others in the performance industry.
  5. Billboard had Manila attendance at 33,721 but According to Philippine Arena official count, some 45,319 people and 16,479 vehicles filled the venue

Maybe the other 11,598 to take it from 33721 up to 45319 were free tickets and therefore wouldn’t have counted in the total.
  7. In 2015 Katy Perry played to a crowd of 34,683 at the Philippine Arena, according to the wikipedia numbers. Similar to U2's audience size, supposedly, but well below the capacity of the venue. But Katy Perry, like U2, appeared to fill the entire venue.

  8. Guns n Roses played the same arena in 2018 and sold 24,638 tickets, by the way.

Again though a lot of the tickets could have been give aways which wouldn’t have counted towards the actual attendance. So maybe 45k were in there for Katy Perry as well but only 34,683 were actually paid for tickets.
  10. Surprised no recordings have surfaced for Sydney 1 yet.
  11. @dylbagz is hoarding it.
  12. Also surprised there's no India recording.
