They used to base it on seniority, but now everyone has an equal opportunity in getting tickets. The only difference is if you choose reserved seating, your seniority will normally bag you a better seat.

It's a neat system, however this time they transferred it from the Pearl Jam website in-house to Ticketmaster, which, as ironic as it may seem, worked better than it normally should because you could choose 'best available' tickets instead of choosing just GA *or* reserved seating. Some people made the mistake of exclusively going for GA because they turn their noses up at seating and have therefore been punished by not getting the shows they want. But they retort by saying "I've been a member since '96 and have never been declined tickets before, I deserve tickets."
This. Its literally just a no braoner spreading out your chances. Anyone with a bit of sense in them would choose seated tickets as a safety net.
Or have at least one of two back up shows as trade material ( not sure if that's possible anymore tho) or backup show if your first choice doesn't work out.

Everyone knows you can get snubbed by Tenclub. So don't mope if it happens.
I never get 10c tickets or membership anyway. There's a big chance you can buy one the week before the show anyway. No biggie.

It's the people who have always been lucky with tickets in the last 20 years that seem to be throwing a hissy fit, since they've built up this entitlement and think they should always be rewarded. It doesn't work that way.

And I agree with you: so many shows on the last tour I was buying tickets last minute. Spreads out your affordability too. There's always people selling tickets and the 10C is the best source for that when individuals buy two tickets and need to offload one.

“I can’t tell you how proud I am about this group of songs. As you know, we took our time and that benefited us taking more chances. ‘Dance’ was a perfect storm of experimentation and real collaboration, mixing up the instrumentation and building a great song, and Ed writing some of my favorite words yet, around Matt’s killer drum pattern. Did I mention Mike’s insane guitar part and that Stone is playing bass on this one? We’ve opened some new doors creatively and that’s exciting.”
  8. Honestly sounds like a drum machine.
  9. Hope the whole album is similar
