I understand your point, for sure. I was only 14 when Pop was released. I had spent the previous year delving into U2's back catalog, and my mind was blown! The HMTMKMKM/Batman hype is actually what put U2 on my radar. Then I remember listening to my Dad's CDs of JT and RH. I "Borrowed" the cassette of UABRS from my Uncle, and my collection grew from there. But Pop was the first time U2 did anything new since I became a fan, and I was just fucking ON BOARD. They could've done anything and I would've probably been over the moon about it!

But I understand what a long time U2 fan from the 80's must've thought when Pop came out. I liken it to Coldplay with me. Parachutes, AROBTTH and X&Y were all albums that came out roughly during my "relevant college years", even though I'm pretty sure I had graduated by the time of X&Y, but I was still in that mindset. So that is MY Coldplay. They changed some over the years, but once they released A Head Full of Dreams, that was just a bridge too far for me. Fortunately, I like Everyday Life quite a bit.
  2. Yeah he took shrooms but he said it was a one time thing I think

Christians doen't do well in the studies either, the states in the Us that have highest % religious people(christian) is the states with highest rates in crime, divorces, teen pregnancy, abortion, low income, worse healthcare, worse education....
The states that have highest % atheists are the states with lowest rates in crime, divorces, teen pregnancy, abortion and have also the best education, best healthcare, higher income....
    Those studies says alot.

Sorry but those studies have very little correlation. I don’t have an opinion on this but what you’re saying is just false.

Higher education often makes people less believers.
Is the same thing with the rates over the world, Denmark, Sweden, Findland, Iceland, Norway are the countries that have best rates in almost everything and they are the countries with highest % atheists.
Non-relgious people tend to have better views on homosexuality, woman rights, accepting science....
Also the worse the living standards is in a country the higher chance is that the people are relgiious.
  6. Peter, as long as people have 'better' views
  7. This is all derailing a bit from Popmart or even U2. Let's take this discussion to the religion politics thread if you like.
  8. Does anyone know where to find the original animation for Last Night On Earth? I find it to be a cool concept with the song and would love the original clip since all I know of is videos of the screen being played while live.

  9. This is a great angle of Last Night On Earth. I hope we can find the original animation soon, kinda like in the Achtung Baby deluxe set where they had the original TV set text. I also saw a cover band on youtube called Achtung Babies and they showed the original animation on their projector screen. Wondering where they got it.

  11. That’s Colgene the concert is on YouTube

  12. I was curious to see the PopMart ticket sales in the US and Australia compared to other tours. I found the following:

    Tampa: 18,751 (1997), 72,688 (2009)
    Atlanta: 26,491 (1997), 61,419 (2009)
    Houston: 22,981 (1997), 58,328 (2009)

    Brisbane: 17,567 (1998), 53,480 (2006)
    Sydney: 37,976 (1998), 206,568 (2006)
    Melbourne: 23,810 (1998), 127,275 (2006)

When people say that PopMart flopped in the US and Australia, they weren't kidding! You can kinda see why U2 wanted to ditch their experimental phase when you compare these ticket sales. I couldn't imagine what would have went through their heads when they played to these stadiums that were less than half full!
