Thankfully this allowed Bono to rest up for a couple of weeks. The 30 December show went ahead and all I can say is it was just amazing! 5000 capacity for this show as well as the other Point Depot performances. We were right at the front of the stage and I remember being able to read the actual set list pinned to the stage floor. I kept nudging my friends that "Out of Control" was on the set list and sure enough the band ripped into this classic song during the set.
Wow ! Your very fortunate ! the rest of us just have to listen to the silver CD's of these shows and wish we were there ! The 12-27-1989 show !!! is my all time favorite !!!!!!!

That was an amazing show my favourite U2 gig i`ve ever seen, one of those special nights.
  3. It was a fantastic concert. I bought the Lovetown Tour shirt and I still have the ticket stub but not the shirt. Highlights for me were when they opened up with "Bullet the Blue Sky" and I thought "God Part II" was just off the scale.

Edge was on fire and I read an article in 1990 in which the band felt the 30 December show was the best of the four nights at the Point Depot.

The song titles were all abbreviated on the set list: "Bullet", "Follow", "Watchtower". I clearly remember seeing "Tik Tok" written down in black marker and was thinking there's no way they're going to hit "11 O clock Tick Tock" and sure enough, it was brilliantly performed during the encore. Great memories.
  4. They certainly are great memories with an awesome setlist , I still have my stub and I outgrew my tour shirt but the memories are as strong as ever.
  5. "Streets" (partial) 04.11.89 Christchurch Pro-Shot:

GREAT how he sings that "...trampled in dust..." part!
  6. They were, that is why he nearly destroyed his vocal chords and shows were cancelled. He changed the way he sang after this tour or there would not have been any further tours.
  7. Didn’t actually know Lovetown went outdoors. You can see him really straining from his throat, no way could he have kept that up, especially during the 90’s smoking period
  8. He sang it like that at Dublin 3, it's a great version - don't suppose anyone has any more footage of this concert

If you haven't already, listen to God Part II from the 89 Amsterdam show. Especially at the end when he gets frustrated and makes them do the ending again and screeches the vocals. Ouch, my throat hurts just listening to it!!
