If U2 ever played this version I would have an orgasm right there in the concert.
    This is perfection!!
  2. I agree, as i told you via PM the So Cruel mix is absolutely superb
  3. @likeasong I'm learning stuff by the day but also wanted to share to get feedback. I have around 4-5 master versions of that combo and they all have their strong things It's trying to combine 2 great bands/singers so there's a lot too choose in terms of sounds/mastering.. One day I'll have a proper version though

In the meantime I'm thinking about combo's that could be relevant today. Had this quick idea about Enjoy the silcence/Until the end of the world but did some rough tests and I don't think there's enough musical overlap to make it sound good..

If anyone has ideas (either lyrical or musical) of combo's that work together and have some meaning please share. Best thing would be something that matches musically and lyrically. I just tested on guitar and Coldplay's Fix You verse would fit on Ultraviolet's chorus for example..

OMG, Coldplay over Ultraviolet? Where's that ban button when I need it

This mix is not meant to be a great song particularly, but an attempt to figure out which songs actually came out of the infamous "Take You Down/UV1" demo from the '90 Salome Achtung outtakes.

I used the (uncut) backing Guitar/Bass/Drums from the Hansa demo as the basic track and then added (where it would fit:

    - Vocals of "Lady with the spinning head" (that was easy, almost identical)
    - Guitar part + solo from "The Fly" (solo cut short because that song has different chords from that point)
    - Vocal from the intro of Ultraviolet (light my way) in the middle eight break (fits like a glove)
    - More vocals of (light my way) that fitted the chord progression near the end
    - Guitar outtro from "The Fly"

This was an earlier project and it's far from radio-ready, but it might be a good laugh in these worrying times..

    very interesting !
you will end up discovering the magic recipe of the Edge !!!
  6. I just hear it in my head first, and I roughly try/check out possibilities. The moment I heard Dave starting on the U2 backing track I was sold, felt it in the pit of my stomach. His baritone (?) authority fits that energetic bass/dub backing of U2 so well.

I just tried putting Bono's Until the end of the world vocal on "Enjoy the Silence" for example.. The thing I had in my head is that Bono would start on that song, leave the chorus to Dave and at some point (where?) turn the whole thing into that la-la-la crescendo ending of U2.. I tried the first verse, but found out quickly that that's not gonna work like I thought it would.

PS. Someone in this thread asked for Depeche So Cruel with just Bono on vocals, Now the "duet" version took me 3 weeks (but that was mainly learning curve), but putting Bono on the Depeche track was easier (1 hour). It's very rough but here you go:

  7. And since it would be unfair to only do that version I put Dave's vocal to the U2 version as well in a second hatch job. Curious to hear opinions which combo people prefer, and why. Last 2 videos are unlisted on YT btw..

    I'm still #campdave
  8. Of course Bono’s singing on both versions
  9. What do you mean? He's not (apart from a 2 second falsetto segment) on the U2 band track
  10. New "Loud AF" mix of the Bono/Dave Gahan duet version of So Cruel. Was a bit frustrated tiday, so tried to see how loud I could get it without destroying it completely..

  11. Thank you Melon51!!!
You are spoiling me in these harsh times!
I like all the versions but am especially happy with Bono vocal on Depeche Mode music!
