1. F*ck yes, I got that the other way around always apparently.. Wishful thinking I suppose

    True. I read Foxnews :-)
  3. I wouldn't only go by major news outlets if I'm honest. If a country is divided strongly you'll get 2 very divided opinions, neither of which is close to the actual situation. It's very dangerous if the national message is wrong, cost us a few lives here I guess..

Truth of the matter is people just have to cooperate, no matter what politics/religion and if they like it or not. A human threat crosses every cultural/political/economic boundary...
  4. and Fox is much better than the federalist. I think Chris Wallace may be the most fair reporter on tv.
  5. IMO reacting late (Spain) or wrongly (UK) in the first stages of the problem is acceptable because nobody was ready for this pandemic, and our leaders are politicians, not epidemiologists. I can buy that, it's acceptable. It caught us all offguard, that's right and nobody will (or should) blame you. BUT at this point, with half of Europe in quarantine and half of Asia proving that the virus outbreak CAN be contained by social distancing and quarantine, denying that and going blatantly against all evidence and scientific advice is just reckless and dumb. And being reckless and dumb is NOT acceptable. This man should just be fired, it would save thousands if not millions of lives.

Although we really weren't caught off guard, now it isn't easy to prepare a country to fight a pandemic but we have known that this was an issue since January. I am not saying we could of all totally prepared and stopped this but the writing was on the wall.
  7. India have taken no chances. Low number of confirmed cases (536) and a low number of deaths (10) but from tonight, they are on lockdown. Tackling it early is vital there considering how populated it is as a country and how densely populated some cities are.

I also find it very hard to find those numbers as factual. I don’t know how their testing has gone and I would assume it’s been minimal so far, but it’s a very hard stance to take but probably for the best.
  9. Oh yes, there’s almost certainly a discrepancy between confirmed cases and actual cases. They have reportedly carried out under 20,000 tests, which is low. Very, very low given the population.
  10. Physicians are requesting that our governor (in TN) shuts down all nonessential businesses.

General public in Holland hasn't been tested at all. 80% goes with minor or no symptoms, but unfortunately 5-10% here gets very ill.

The deathrate is not the important figure (right now), as weird as that may sound. With regular Flu there was an excess death of 152.000 (in 24 EU countries in the EU) in the 2018 Flu season, Italy alone had 25.000 during these 12 weeks.

Difference with Corona is that there's also otherwise healthy people in their 30-50s that land up in hospital or in IC. That combined with this outbreak means it's an enormous weight on each country's health system. So "gambling" really is roulette in this situation.

And no western country wants to go into "triage" where health professionals have to decide (think of the psychological burden) who gets to live..

I pray for us all. Hang in there sisters... brothers. We GET to carry each other. We HAVE to.

That really sucks man. I really hope you get back on your feet soon. I'm sending you hugs while still maintaining social distances.
