I hear you for sure. I can definitely say that each album has a mood. And I definitely find myself in the mood for LB and Backspacer at times. I can’t probably say Riot Act is my least likes album from them. I’m never in the mood to throw it on.
Riot Act was once my least favourite album, but then I stuck Live at the Garden on spontaenously and it all made sense. I think the album has a really disjointed track listing, which is a trend Pearl Jam have set in all their albums. But it has a really despondent and visceral mood, and I love how that seeped into the album tour. For me, it's the last time we've properly seen the band at their ballsiest.

Love Boat Captain, You Are & 1/2 Full really hold up in their catalogue. But I also love tracks like Green Disease, All or None & I Am Mine.

  3. Most of Pearl Jam sound better live - especially the more recent album (er, since 2000).
  4. Eddie Vedder will be performing as part of the Global Citizen and World Health Organization (WHO) One World: #TogetherAtHome global special to honor the healthcare workers in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tune in on April 18 at 5pm PT to watch the performance.

  5. I think all of Lightning Bolt live sounded much weaker than the album, something that the band have perhaps realised because Gigaton sounds like it was written to be played live?

That's something that struck me on first listen - you can tell many of these songs are 100% live-oriented. Agreed about LB, much of that album sounded better on the record than it did live.

Another thing that I realized is that they must have had some serious fun recording this album. It sounds like that. You can tell it's just a bunch of guys playing live in the studio and having fun together.
  7. Search out Unplugged or Live at the Academy or Drop in the Park for authorize 92 PJ bootlegs.
  8. There is an expected Pearl Jam announcement this morning about the tour.
