1. Is this an official release? It's on the google play store and other digital retailers, but it's not listed on u2.com's discography page. The info for the label says its copyright '2020 cult legends'.

I saw it too. Someone highjacked the release. That show was featured on UABRS but not authorized.
  3. I haven't had a chance to listen to the audio. If its official, obviously I'll buy it. But it depends on of it's better than the bootlegs on here.
  4. its not official. Its a European company that is using weaker European copyright rules to distribute this. U2 / Universal have nothing to do with this, make no money from this. This first popped up in January, was taken down and is now back up again...

It's not official - if you put the discs into some cd ripping software that looks up titles from the net it might tell you which boots they used as source. I'm surprised they took so long to get to U2 (and the clash who seem to be the other latest addition). This 'market' has been swamped for years with Springsteen, Prince and especially Bowie releases claiming to be "broadcasts".
  6. Wasn’t it part of the u2 ipod?
  7. Nope. Only Tick Tock.
  8. The "Live in Boston" release on "The Complete U2" was a show from '81. This one is from '83.
  9. I took a look at it and the version on Qobuz / Deezer is the same recording that was used for "The Complete Boston Tapes" - including the skip in the piano intro for "I Fall Down". All of the track timings are identical. Makes me think that someone used that boot as a starting point anyway.

But this version for sale is missing 11 O'Clock Tick Tock, which should fit between Party Girl and I Will Follow. It also is slightly louder than the original "The Complete Boston Tapes" Bootleg.

This recording was released via Wolfgang's Vault. That version doesn't have the skip at the start of "I Fall Down" and also does not have the same track timings.

You mean they (might have) used a bootleg as the source for the official version of 11 O'Clock which is included in The Complete U2, instead of going back to the original master recording?

No...This new recording of the May 83 show that is now available on Qobuz / Amazon / Deezer / etc. is what is taken from the bootleg. The release on these various platforms is not official, and not done by U2 / Universal.

"The Complete U2" featured the 1981 show, and was taken from U2's masters of the recording, and that show as officially released as part of the iTunes set.

Ah ok, that makes sense. Plently of bootlegs being uploaded to Deezer and Apple Music lately, I wonder if Universal will do something about it.

Thanks for your valuable input as usual. It's so nice to have you around more often
