I'm absolutely stunned how fresh my original JT vinyl still sounds … after cleaning it!

A few crackles at the lead-in of both sides, but after that it's like that wide and clear blue sky.
The bass is warm like this spring afternoon and clarity of the percussion is like the birds singing in the morning dawn...

Yes, I need to turn the volume of my amplifier way more up than with the remastered vinyl, but that is absolutely no punishment...

PS: I was a bit afraid that the long running time of these original sides would have compromised the sound quality, but the dynamics are absolutely fine. It always felt a bit strange to think The Joshua Tree as a 2xLP, (although I do understand the reasoning behind it).

(To be sure: In Gods Country is actually 2:57 - the label info of 3:57 is incorrect - so the running time of side 2 is approx. 26 min.)
Wow, that's some mistake in IGC's duration I didn't know this existed. Imma ask the folks from U2songs about it, as I can't find it in their site!

  2. FINALY

Maybe because US pressings have the (more or less) correct timing of 2:57 on the labels …?

Later repressings (1988, 1989) of the European release still give 3:57 for ICG

But I also have a Canadian pressing which has a track duration of 3:32 on the label

Yeah, time for @u2songs for an update

They knew about the error but apparently they don't consider it a mispress because mistakes in song duration listings are quite common:

  5. Listing these errors on the website is on their to-do list btw

  6. Of course they knew

But my point was merely to state my (pleasant) surprise that a vinyl with
such a long side duration - as the Joshua Tree - sounded so good

    Spoiler (click to toggle)
I did wash my old vinyl before I trusted it to my dear turntable though...

As I do with all my vinyl btw ...old and new
