I’m not bothered about them trying to copy zoo tv the AB songs are good enough to be played with any kind of set up, I just want that album in full. Then follow that up with a new album and new tour shortly after. They’ve not played songs like zoo station, wild horses and the fly enough times over the years. That run they got at the end of E&I was very short when you consider how many shows they’ve missed. There’s also Tryin to throw your arms around the world that hasn’t been played since zoo tv, love is blindness that was only half played once since zoo tv and so cruel that hasn’t been played since zoo tv. Acrobat only just got played for E&I so that’s not really been played enough either considering it missed all of zoo tv.

There’s no need for me to state anything else beyond this.

I’m sure an idea like this was mentioned before maybe on u2songs.
    Another idea I like!
  3. There's one option missing in the poll:
"Yes, and I would kill to see it"
  4. I would welcome it, but it depends on what's the alternative. I prefer a new album and new ideas. So my answer would have been, "yes I would welcome it, but I prefer a new album". But as that's not included in the poll I voted for the first option. E&I already turned it's focus from new songs to Achtung Baby/Zooropa, I hope the next album is strong enough to carry it's own tour again.

E&I walked and chewed gum at the same time. They were still playing 7 SOE songs nightly through the end of the tour even while they were playing all the Achtung Baby and Zooropa songs.

I don’t think that’s true that E&I switched its focus. They played at least 7 songs from SOE all the way til the end of the tour, more than any other album. In fact I’m pretty sure that’s the most they’ve played from the one album all the way through a tour since Popmart unless you include invisible as a song from SOI in which case that ties with it.
  7. At the end of the day, the band themselves must love those tunes as they consistently keep going back to them.
They once said they wanted to "chop down the Joshua Tree" (or something like that) but they never discussed "drowning the (Achtung) baby."

yes, and 8 of AB/Zooropa on the last shows. The show was more about that than about Songs of Experience. And certainly those songs were not strong enough to keep an entire arena interested. In the end the focus was more on Experience (Zoo TV era) than on songs of Experience.

AB and zooropa are 2 different albums though. They opened the show with 2 new songs and closed the show with 2 new songs, I think they put more emphasis on the SOE songs than anything else. Again apart from
I&E they’ve not placed that much emphasis on new songs since Popmart.

  10. That's quite a manipulation There were 7/8 songs only from one album, which was Songs of Experience. They started the show, they were were changing and leading the narrative before and after the whole crazy "Experience" section, and they were finishing the show.

Aaaand back to topic: I'm sure there's no chance for new album/tour next year, so I'm for AB/ZOO2021.
  11. An anniversary tour kills any freedom. Half the set is done.
  12. If they do it I'm afraid it will solidify them as the legacy act they never wanted to be. They kind of dodged that with JT30. If it happens I'll accept that and I'm sure it would be amazing but I have reservations, as I did when they announced JT30. Until they call it quits, I look forward to new material and tours.
