1. I don't remember that being officially announced, although I'm sure that's the case.
  2. U2.com: Get your workers back in to manufacture these DVDs, ASAP
  3. Miracles do happen! Today I received both subscription gifts from 2019

    Still waiting for mine...
  4. "manufacture these DVDs" sounds so past decade, I still can't get over it
  5. Formats don't die, they just become unpopular.
  6. I hope the next gift is a phonograph cylinder
  7. I got this email from u2.com:

Due to the Spanish Flu epidemic, your subscription gift will be delayed 100 years.
  8. It's late
  9. Minidisc was superb quality and actually quite cool I had a great Sony MZ-R500 with which I taped my first shows in 2010-2012 before I got my first digital flash recorder. The MD was then left stranded on a closet for 8 years, and I took it out a few weeks ago and it still worked like the first day - I sold it straight away for almost the same I paid 10 years ago!. Great machines, built to last (unlike modern devices).

So yeah, I'd take the next U2com gift in minidisc anytime
  10. Yep. I just bought a used Minidisc player/recorder a few weeks ago. I listened to a few live and rehearsal recordings of bands I played in for the first time in ten years. Pretty cool, high quality recordings! I also 'taped' a few shows (non U2). Convenient and reliable gear, those Minidiscs still work fine.

I never had MD player - there were not many albums released on MD and it wasn't easy to rip CDs to MD and then quickly came mp3 players (my first was 32 mb 😂 and looked like pencil).
