It was a stunning set... brilliantly shot & crafted.

It was so good.that at the end I was left somewhat with a sense of melancholy & loss. What an artist, unique, and gone forever but so alive & assured at Glasto.

The final song applies to many of us....I didn't know it either.

Michael Eavis said they are welcome to come back anytime which would be great as I'd say they would be better prepared and know more about how to approach it.
Good point about the U2 set. It was disappointing, seemed a bit nervy & laboured & lacked some of the joy, certainly lacked the swagger & connection you normally get. I would like to see them back.

There is plenty of dirge at Glasto... they still stand out.
  3. Should have treated it like the Tibet gig in 1997, no fancy stuff, just played the songs.

Odd closer tho - can't say I'm particularly familiar with I'm Afraid of Americans...Pure genius. Same as the opener: a curve ball

Your comment, pure genius,is spot on.It sums up Bowie in 2 words.

Earl Slick was on fire too. And it was great to hear Absolute Beginners too.

As for I'm Afraid of Americans...I ain't that so true at the moment.
  6. Based on all the posts above I found Bowie's appearance at Glastonbury on Spotify and gave it a listen for the first time today. Didn't know a few songs but liked what I heard.
  7. Decent performance of One. A shame they managed to fudge Streets though. Too early in the set.
  8. I remember cringing when they messed up EBTTRT then Edge fluffed The Fly solo. Most big acts arse up the first Glasto headlining set after being established.
  9. Jo Whiley's intro was well-timed.

They fixed Even Better on From The Sky Down, IIRC.
  10. Yeah they did, and it still sounded like it was a Band-Aid type remedy. (not *that* Band-Aid)
  11. I’ve never been able to pinpoint why it leaves me feeling cold inside. All the ingredients were there. The rain has never ruined a U2 show so I never bought that argument either. I don’t even have many quibbles with the setlist. Moment of Surrender should never have been near the setlist is about it. Maybe I’ll rewatch the whole thing some time and see if the passage of time has changed my thoughts.

I remember thinking at the time, "they've bottled it". I think if it was one-off appearance not in the middle of a tour that's actually occurring on another continent, it would have been far better.
