1. Thoroughly enjoyed all the UK shows from that tour. These were rather emotional shows given what Bono was going through.
I made some great friends on this tour.

Yep same! Those 2 weeks or so are permanently etched on me, great times, and I really don't know how Bono found his way through, maybe us lot played a part in some small way. I met Chris Martin at Birmingham night #2 - the guy I hung around with at that show said to him "You're that bloke out of Coldplay aren't you?", he said "Nah..." lol - he was standing right behind me in the walkway outside of the heart. Lots of great memories.

    Brilliant. That is just great.

I saw Paul McGuiness just to the opening of the heart area with a big smile on his face at this show.

I had the pleasure of chatting with him once on my birthday at the second Popmart show in London.

Everyone was waiting for the band and Paul was just milling about by a black limousine on his own. So I went over to talk to him. He was really kind and gave me some free Popmart promo items and signed that night's gig ticket. He told Bono it was my birthday and got him to sign my gig ticket stub too. I recall Bono was in a rush that night and he only gave a few autographs so I was quite lucky. I shall have to locate that as it is here somewhere.

I also remember speaking to Pimm Jal de la Parra that night too. Lovely person. Sadly missed. He and I often traded cassettes and information.
  4. Oh wow, that is amazing. I knew Paul McGuinness was a good guy, but that right there is absolute proof. That's our wee band for you!

And wow you got to meet and knew Pimm too!? That book was and still is a U2 bible, have the first 2 editions, never got round to getting the updated Elevation one. Must track it down some point. The work he must have put into it, and collating is bewildering. I used to sub to his Collectormania for a while in the early 1990's, it was such a treat, and made with such passion, and lots of extras always used to come with it like postcards and stuff. Very sad that he left us way too early.

My best memory of those Elevations shows though was London 3 - Bono coming down the heart ramp during Bullet, with his elbow against his forehead as he did. I had a rail spot on Edge's side in the heart, and turned round and he stopped right above me looking down at me, but as I turned round I also noticed Ali and the girls stood in the walkway, they'd been stood right behind me it would seem, maybe just for the encore I'd imagine, so I'd got Bono looking down at me, whilst his wife and kids stood below, right in front of me, looking towards the stage being super professional not looking up at him, will never forget it, almost felt like I was intruding on a family moment lol.

And London #4 tip of the heart, one back off the front barrier, Bono coming out in the crowd during The Fly, amazing, only show I've been at where he's done that to my knowledge. I tell people I touched his shoe as he did it, but the truth is my fingertips were just a few millimetres short lol, but I won't tell anyone if you guys don't. I came out of that particular show, absolutely drenched from head to toe in perspiration - sign of a good show methinketh!

U2 do the stadium show like no other, but honestly, I'd trade it every time for an intense up close and personal sweaty indoor gig any day.
