  2. I am bombarded weekly with e-mails promoting new events in 2021. I am not committing to anything until I can be certain it will go ahead.

  11. Would you believe that Melbourne, Australia would still be in a hard lockdown, that has a rolling 14 day avg of 10 cases?

Melbourne has had a second wave. Between mid May and most of June, we were fluctuating between 0-20 cases a day and the city was slowly opening back up. Then our state government stuffed up hotel quarantine and allowed the virus to spread to communities again. It escalated in a blink of an eye and went out to 200-300 cases by mid July, then to a peak of 721 by the start of August.

The State of Victoria went into a hard lockdown. A 5km radius restrictions for exercise, shopping etc only. (exemption for essential workers) We also had a curfew between 5am to 8pm, were we couldn’t be out of our homes. We couldn’t have any visitors at homes, only a maximum of 2 people together outside for exercise. We were told this would be for 6 weeks. Keep in mind this was start of August.

Fast forward to September 13th. Six weeks was up and we had gone from 721 to roughly 50 cases. Our state government said we needed to extend the lockdown a little more to eliminate it. The only thing lifted was the curfew and a max of 5 people outside together to exercise.

Today, nearly mid October, we have now knocked it down to roughly 6-20 cases over the last 2 weeks. We now have a rolling 14 day avg of 9.5 cases. Around 200 active cases who are isolating. Yet we still have a 5km radius. Can’t see friends or family, nothing is opened up, but yet, where just about where we were before the 2nd wave. The state government wants to get it under an avg of 5 cases or less to open things up. And when you look at Europe and America it’s total nonsense that my city, in Melbourne is in lockdown with cases of 6-20. We currently only have 21 out of 6million in hospital for Covid-19 in the state.

The city of Melbourne has been in a lockdown since March, with a brief let off in June. We have had one of the harshest lockdowns in the world and yet we’re better off than most of the world. People of Melbourne are fed up with our state government and we want to start living our lives. They were mostly responsible for the second wave in out state and are paying the price still. Sorry for the rant but I’m totally frustrated and it’s felt by a lot of people in our state mentally and physically. It’s like our Premier Daniel Andrews has lost his mind. Our federal government is doing nothing because it comes down to politics and opposing party’s. This lockdown could extend into November or even December. Even with these current case numbers because they want to eliminate it to 0. But the virus will still be around because there’s no vaccine yet so what’s the point. We need to start living with it. The rest of Australia hasn’t had a second wave and has opened up. So it feels like Melbourne is on its own in my country.
