That's why they charge such high prices because they know people like you will suck it up and justify it in your head "Hey man it's U2" ,the last 2 indoor tours have thrown off a lot of regular fans as their ticket prices have gone through the roof it was a real sly move by the band they went to a select few of the wealthiest cities in Europe and charged top dollar knowing they'd sell out as there were so few gigs.

  2. Berlin 2.5 I had a 70 euro seat. Wasn't directly behind the stage but was close enough, could still see everything with no restricted view. Great deal.

    Nice!

London 2015 I had a seat right behind the main stage. It was actually great because the band were very close and although I couldn't see the screen it wasn't a problem for £30.
  4. Prices ended up dropping for good seats. Had GA tix for my wife and myself for Philly night 1. Was able to get 4 seats in row 1 of second level near midcourt for our kids about 1 month before the show for GA prices. So, basically, the diehard fans get fleeced. (and don't get me started on how much better the set list was for back half of the Europe leg. )

  5. Really interesting. I wouldn't say they review every show, this is likely for the first shows of each tour/leg or so... But it's amazing that they're handed professional aud+vid recordings of a show even before they leave the venue. Mindblowing, actually!
  6. Was watching the Berlin DVD yesterday because of the date anniversary, and had this setlist thought;

IF U2 had decided to NOT play ANYthing from the 80's (rather than just from Joshua Tree), it would only have been 4 song changes. So I got thinking what other songs would have fit the bill for those 4 spots (in terms of thematically, spot in the show, type of song they were going for). So it's what would FIT in the setlist spot.. not ness my dream picks, if that makes sense.

IWF -----> Until the End of the World (up-tempo, fans instantly recognize guitar riff)
Gloria-----> Mysterious Ways (another fan fav, up-beat)
Pride -----> Walk On (crowd sing-along, feel good)
NYD -------> Please (political, could still keep the US or Euro flag backdrop)

Seems like they could have quite easily pulled off an effective post-80's show if that's what they had wanted
Any other suggestions of exclusively post-80's that would fit in well?
  7. Gloria replaced by MW, lmao
  8. At that point I think having Red Flag Day on constant rotation with ABOY would have been a more fitting choice.

Man... Please should have made it to the setlist. They missed a great opportunity. One of their finest songs, it would fit their narrative and die hards would go crazy.
It's just a perfect song. Adam's bassline and Larry's drums are superb and I can't imagine how awesome it would be to hear Edge's solo at the end, wild!
  10. yeah, i did consider those 2 actually. But ultimately thought that after BlackOut and Lights (2 new songs that average joe likely wouldnt know) that they really wanted a crowd reaction to a known classic (ala I Will Follow). And I just figured the two-some Until and Mysterious Ways would provide that better than RFD or ABOY - which I assume joe average wouldnt know either

That was the whole problem with the E and I tour, U2 still gave effs about Joe Average. Acrobat was awesome and no JT tunes were refreshing but they missed a golden opportunity to blow the whole setlist up. Please, Gone, Last Night on Earth should have been locked in the setlist every night. And they should have played HMTMKMKM live every night as a band. But I guess they would had to have dropped Beautiful Day, Pride, One, Elevation and Vertigo so they caved in and didn't go for it. So disappointing. They probably won't have that opportunity again. Two greatest hits type tours with a few new songs sprinkled in and they are calling it a day....
  12. The problem now is that the catalogue is being split into groups and this doesn't bode well for the rarities pile.
