1. I love racing but to me F1 is no longer that. It hasn't been for a long time. It is a totally different beast and I stopped beating on it when I learned to accept that I need to get my kicks elsewhere if I want entertainment from a race. Motorcycle racing is usually that.

With bikes you can see the rider, you can see the physical wrestling with the bike, the gear changes, the braking. You can see it all therefore you can appreciate the talent and physical ability more so than you can with a static helmet in a car twiddling with knobs and switches on a steering wheel. MotoGP still delivered stupendous racing even through Rossi's dominance. 45-60 minute minute all out blast with little to no strategy and no pit stops. Elbow to elbow, man to man.

Formula One is no longer set up to deliver that and that is absolutely fine. When you factor in the prototype technology, the tyres and the strategy, it is actually an incredibly niche sport in my view. Its maintained popularity continues to surprise me.
  2. I can't watch motorcycle racing because I'm really afraid of having to watch a crash, with a human body flying around or getting smashed.
I have worked in a hospital and a have seen what a motorcycle crash can do to a human body, as can a car crash, of course, but the drivers in a F1-car are much better protected.

A lot of journalists have been saying it could move to a European country, with talk of Imola. But that's purely the rumour mill going.

  4. Scary accident with Grosjean there
  5. Fucking hell.
  6. I bet he'll be happy that he's done with F1 after this season.
  7. Startled at how he was able to undo his seatbelt, and get out of the car with the halo involved - which probably saved his life - in a matter of ten seconds.
  8. driver of the here in the netherlands Grosjean thank god he is okay
  9. he was thinking about going to America, racing on ovals etc next year. He might have 2nd thoughts about that now.

Lauda also once stopped driving because it was to dangerous. It was the last race of the season (1976) and he was leading the championship at that moment. So drivers do have fear as well and the switch is not always working.
Grosjean already admitted he had some fear of driving on ovals, but was willing to work on that. I wouldn't be surprised if after today he might skip the whole idea again. I could still see him do Formula E or something like that.
  12. they all do have fear but also the drive to race , let's hope he wake's up
