It's just the U2START projection/reality/distortion field at play again.

    Other artists do it no?

In what way ? Aren't u2 the sole owners writers and producers of the recorded music they make ? It's not like they are a cover band ? Can u explain what you mean by 'licensing issues' ?

Everything is simple looking at something from a fan's perspective without any knowledge of the inner workings
  4. Sure. I can still put that into perspective of what other artists do. Those are U2's competitors
  5. I don’t know the ins and outs of legal issues but when you have Wolfgang’s vault actually selling the bands recordings then surely they could play unreleased live stuff on a radio station. Are the legal issues not more to do with the station not being given permission to play the songs from the band and there management rather than the band not being able to give them permission. And in the very worst case surely all it would cost is a little bit of money for the band to be able to access there own material and give it to the station to play. So without knowing I’m guessing that realistically there is absolutely nothing stopping the band letting unreleased live shows be played on siriusxm but it’s a choice.
  6. It would be interesting to know about the audio crew of Pearl Jam or Springsteen. How many people they employ and how long do they work?
  7. do fans really think the edge or bono wants to release performances which they are unhappy with?

we know how touchy the band can be about performance quality

listen, this is fucking U2 we're talking about here - if they haven't released loads of stuff in 40-odd years then they ain't gonna start anytime soon

and before people start telling me what they have released, we're NOT talking about another remix/baby/demo/odd live track here and there or a concert we already have via a broadcast or a dvd/digital release etc, we're on about the holy grails, man, the holy grails

possibly when they split then the dogs will scavenge over their bodies and we will get some stuff released but before then? don't hold your breaths

I think you’re right they don’t want to release too much stuff because of how picky they are about it. However, they have been getting much better in the last decade, mainly via the fanclub but as a whole it’s probably been there best decade for live releases and I think that will continue to get better as the years pass, we’re not going to get ultra rare shows that have never existed in great quality, I don’t think so anyway, but we’ll probably get stuff that’s been broadcast already and shows that are quite famous as bootlegs but not been officially released. But going back to this decade, aside from the DVD’s which they’ve been doing for years now we’ve had u22 and from the ground up which gave us a lot of songs from a variety of locations and covered most of the songs played on 360. We’ve had the ‘live songs of..’ fan club release which gave us every song from the last 2 albums that they had played live and again not just from shows that were already released on dvd, songs like the troubles, California, and landlady which would probably have never been released otherwise. We also got the MSG JT release and Elevation Boston although we did already have that on dvd . And to start the new decade of we’re getting the Apollo show which hasn’t been commercially released before in any format and the Heartland concert documentary still to come. I think if you compare that to the past it’s much better but I still wouldn’t disagree with people saying they could release more. As I always say the more live u2 the better.

They are the songwriters though ?? I get it if they are like i said a cover band who need that sort of permission , but they produce entirely their own material?
Snippets of other songs are the problem. If I recall correctly, they had to cut out the snippet of Send In the Clowns during the Electric Co. on Under a Blood Red Sky due to licensing issues.

I could understand that reasoning for omitting a few songs from a full show but it doesn’t seem like a reason not to release (or for Siriusxm play) more unreleased live songs. If you look at the last gig of JT2019 there was only 4 songs with snippets from other artists songs. In fact just looking at the Apollo setlist did they omit any snippets from that?

That is corporate U2 for ya.

We chose the wrong band for these kind of things. Opposed to Springsteen.

Sure they don't need to play unreleased live audio when it's all on this site ,maybe you inadvertently ruined it for them.
