1. I don't know exactly. I think they felt they had to prove something and they were pretty confident with the result. (And now, please go home, you have nothing more to ask for). After With Or Without you he said 'it's good to be home' and after MLK he asked 'did we win or lose?'.
The next night all tension was gone; 'good night, see you sooner or later. Bye Thank you!' (sounding quite humbled and grateful)

The London 93 shows maybe? Are there many that sound almost like soundboards with minimal audience noise but instruments still clear. I know all the actual soundboards.

Having attended 50% of those shows, I can confirm they where amazing and those Wembley Nights bootlegs sound great so are a perfect choice if you are after clear audience recordings of ZOO TV shows 👍

In agreement, and I also attended 50% of those shows the 12th & 21st (nights 2 & 4) The 12th is a brilliant show as I have attested to in this thread.
  4. Ah, thank you for bringing back those memories. That version of 'Rain' in Rotterdam... very special ending to a very strong show.
I remember Bono waving for Adam and Larry to come back to join him and Edge.
What a rainy evening it had been!

I had read a few - negative- reviews from the US leg before, I even had some cassettes, bought at record fairs, the opening Vegas show among them - and didn't expect to much. But that night in Rotterdam proved for me they still 'had it'.
  5. U2 do the best verse of Rain. I'm not kidding.
  6. I disagree. The Beatles did it better. Ringo's drumming is beyond words, as is the bass playing/bass sound and the vocals.

Yep, the Beatles version of Rain can never be topped.
  8. Personally, Zoo TV wins hands down on the strength of setlists. I felt like the Popmart setlist relied too heavily on songs that were showing their age & started to wear out their welcome.
  9. Zoo TV by far.

That's an interesting point songs like Pride,Still haven't found and With or without you could have done with a break on that tour they kinda felt out of place on that futuristic stage ,always felt that screen was made for The Fly which they never played.Popmart definitely had some great moments but it never felt as groundbreaking or exciting as Zoo TV.
  11. Always gonna be ZooTV. The chopping down of the JT with their new sound, the alter-egos, the die-hards going, "WTF is this?!?" The band having the balls to open the shows with 6-7 new songs in a row. The Sarajevo link-ups, the contest winners, the pizzas .it was all mad. And Bono's voice with how the band was playing, especially the 92 shows. Popmsrt had its moments, and I loved how they played several of the songs. But bigger isn't always better. There's no business like ZooTV business 🤣
  12. It's not even a contest...ZOOtv all day long. The album material they were debuting on that tour was infinitely better and Popmart would not have even existed without Zoo.
