However Matt is correct in saying that CDs are becoming less accessible (but they are still more accessible than Vinyl).
90% of people responding had some way to listen to CD. Whether that was a computer drive, a DVD player, or a CD player. Just 48% were able to listen to vinyl. Now that was a few years ago, but I don't expect a huge shift in that time.
Cost is another consideration. It's more expensive to produce vinyl, and more expensive to ship. Those CDs go pretty cheap if they aren't in a big booklet...
But there's also the headache of getting something produced. Due to a fire a few years back that destroyed one of two facilities making masters, as well as the popularity of the format now when pressing plants haven't been built to keep up, it's hard to get into these facilities to get something produced. So doing a CD may be quicker to do, if you don't have to wait for the vinyl producing facilities....
