However Matt is correct in saying that CDs are becoming less accessible (but they are still more accessible than Vinyl).
Three years ago we did a survey at U2Songs asking about the fan club. We asked only members of the fan club to respond. In that we asked people if they could listen to vinyl, and if they could listen to CD.

90% of people responding had some way to listen to CD. Whether that was a computer drive, a DVD player, or a CD player. Just 48% were able to listen to vinyl. Now that was a few years ago, but I don't expect a huge shift in that time.

Cost is another consideration. It's more expensive to produce vinyl, and more expensive to ship. Those CDs go pretty cheap if they aren't in a big booklet...

But there's also the headache of getting something produced. Due to a fire a few years back that destroyed one of two facilities making masters, as well as the popularity of the format now when pressing plants haven't been built to keep up, it's hard to get into these facilities to get something produced. So doing a CD may be quicker to do, if you don't have to wait for the vinyl producing facilities....
  2. Aside from a few collectible reissues (and not the Mega/Uber deluxe stuff) which remain in their cello packaging and the stuff I get from u2.com each year, I am done with physical formats.

I still purchase digital stuff (as opposed to just streaming), mind you.
  3. That's what my archive says, files are in the fanclub folder, than: 2011 - U2360 EP (Subscribers Exclusive). It contains:

I think you’ve made your own EP there and labelled it as such but I’m fairly certain there was no official EP release they’re just proshot tracks available on u2.com that I’m assuming you’ve converted to audio.

I checked my files from the time and know these were not broken out by themselves agreeing with the previous posts. Get on Your Boots on Edge’s Picks was also from Foxborough in 2009. There were standalone pre-release tracks (4) for U22 - the ones I have (with fade in/out) are: Even Better Than The Real Thing, One Tree Hill, All I Want Is You/Love Rescue Me, and Unknown Caller.

With Edge’s Picks there were five additional digital downloads - Angel of Harlem, Desire, No Line on the Horizon, Pride, and Spanish Eyes.
  6. Don't you think it's about time we should get some news regarding the new gift... my sub is about to expire - it's not personal - but i've been a constant member since bomb (the launch of proper u2.com) and always renewed on time or been extended ... so i imagine there is a large group of "hardcore" u2.com members that expires in few days, but still nothing more... of course i will renew but the proces is as usual poor

Poor is the norm when it comes to U2com. I guess they'll extend your subscription time until they announce the new gift, they've done that in the past.
  8. The new gift was announced a while ago. The Apollo show.
  9. I think he wants news regarding the tracklist, shipping and digital downloads etc.
  10. That would be nice to get soon. I thought they extended most fans memberships to the end of March last year so I’m surprised that anyone’s only got a few days left at this stage. Edit: in fact I just checked it’s only til the beginning of March they extended it, I guess if they come up with some details before the end of the month no issues otherwise they’re asking people to renew without proper details.
  11. lol you're right. I guess that shows how much I care about the U2com gifts
  12. Yep i know it’s Apollo now I would like to know how much of the show are we really going to get ... one mp3 file to kill the wait would also be nice
