There’s a lot I like on the everyday life album most of it in fact, same for ghost stories I don’t really like much at all on head full of dreams or viva la Vida and myloto xyloto hasn’t aged well for me either. But I prefer the earlier stuff and in general the less poppy tunes but there’s always room for good examples of poppy songs. I think the new song sounds quite 80’s, I like that about it. Not going to be amongst my favourite Coldplay stuff but I think it’s alright. The first 3 albums though are different class.

A Rush Of Blood is one of my favourite all time songs. First album definitely the best Coldplay effort. Saw them in Melbourne on the HFOD tour. Everyday life was a good album just had abit of crap on it. To me Coldplay is trying to appeal to a younger audience.
  3. I gave that until 52 seconds in.If you like them & have continued to support them for the last 20 years fair play to you.I’m glad I checked out with these in 2003 after A Rush of Blood To the Head album. As I’ve stated here many times, first 2 albums are outstanding.I gave X&Y one listen then said ‘..no thank you,see ya..’

X&Y is a cracking album you’re missing out there if you’ve only gave it one listen. Most artists that I’ve liked at one stage I’ll give their new material a chance. With Coldplay it’s been more miss than hit since after X&Y but there’s some good songs since then still.
  5. I was a fan of Coldplay from the time I heard Yellow on MTV2 and bought Parachutes. 2000-01 ish. First saw them in a small theater in 2003, and I knew they were going to be huge. It was incredible to watch their rise to fame. But from about Mylo onwards, they have gone down a path I can’t really follow. I like Ghost Stories and Everyday Life, but I’m not a fan of AHFOD, nor do I like this new single. It’s exactly what I imagine a pop hit should sound like in 2021, but it’s not for me.

Maybe I will like it more within the context of the album, but I doubt it. Also, where the fuck is Johnny on this track? His progression as a guitarist has really disappointed me. He’s more or less just there as Chris Martin’s backup guitarist at this point.

Maybe I feel like how the fans of U2 from Boy-War felt after hearing Discotheque. Just not the band I got into. I hate to be like that, I’m usually on board with what my favorite bands come up with next. But I cannot get into this.
  6. Really digging the new song but I’ve liked just about everything Coldplay has ever done haha.
  7. Popsicpe music Coldplay have turned it
    Actually terrible tbh ..
  8. I see they are now back to the songwriting goal of "will this song pair well with confetti cannons?"
  9. New song is garbage. Thought they were going back to more of their roots after the Everyday Life album and its sound.
  10. This may be a controversial take, but I think their new song sounds pretty good.
Although the material up until Viva la Vida is their best, the new pop stuff isn't bad.
