1. Back to normal. Thank God.
  2. And now the WHO says they want people to wear masks again, vaccinated or not because of Delta variant.

Can we just get like a month off of any covid news

I really don’t get involved politically or scientifically with any discussion about this but at this point, they can fuck off. There will always be variants. The world will never be rid of covid.

Agree... they should think of how to get the world to normal. Every year there will be couple of new variants and we can't be in facemasks and lockdowns for the rest of our lives... We need to start to live again...
  5. Shame how masks won't catch on in the winter. I would still wear one on public transport.
  6. finally i had the first dose of vaccine today
  7. It's amazing the number of people here (and around the world, but especially the southern US) who have no scientific knowledge or common sense. Whining that Covid will never go away, complaining that life should get back to normal. Cry me a fucking river and get a clue. "They should think of how to get the world to normal."
Really? Asinine thing to say when so many aren't getting vaccinated and so many more don't have access to being vaccinated yet. Sincerely, from someone who works in hospitals everyday, and, yes, someone who believes in science and not bullshit. "But please, make everything normal again so I can have fun and feel better about myself." Piss up a rope 🤣
  8. Currently on day 3 of a 7 day lockdown in South Australia. About a dozen cases in the state.
  9. lockdown in Victoria
  10. Lockdown with a dozen cases? Holy shit, we are at around 30,000 new cases per day, the UK is well over 45,000, France is around 25,000... And none of us are lockdown except for very specific towns or areas. Surreal.
  11. Sergio, it’s day 28 here in Sydney and the numbers keep getting worse…134 today! I know that seems trivial relative to many other locations but the concern here in Australia is we’re lagging behind in vaccination rates. The risk and fear is that by not locking down, daily case numbers would be in the thousands. Only around 12% are fully vaccinated and 29% have only had one jab.

Watching from this distance, I’m keen to see how the UK and USA go. While vaccination may significantly limit the admissions to ICU and deaths, the impact of Long-COVID seems to be under-appreciated. I’ve read studies reporting ongoing fatigue, depression, breathlessness and increased heart rate in something like a quarter to a third of those diagnosed, up to 6 months later.

I don’t think we’ll be lifting restrictions here in Sydney for at least another month, possibly longer.
  12. Does anyone think this is coming to its end??
From what I can make out here in the UK people contracting Omricon reporting mild cold symptoms, had ONE night with a couple of friends days before Christmas, next day they have it,despite negative LFTs day before.Their entire family caught it- including the 70 year old dad and nothing more than a few sneezes.
    Positive vibes for 2022?
